Well the best girl rock band I ever saw was L7 (here live on the word, a memorable performance when the singer dropped her trousers at the end). Hell when I caught them some people threw some mud at them, so she retaliated with her used sanitary towel. Proper rock chicks innit.

Nightwish and Halestorm.

Bloodaxe726
Yeah I came in here to say Nightwish as well. Although Nightwish's current line-up isn't as kickass as the one with Tarja Turunen was.

After listening to alot of the Flyleaf station on last.fm, I can give you a TON of suggestions here:

In This Moment

Flyleaf

Tsunami Bomb

Paramore

Evanescence

The Birthday Massacre

The Dresden Dolls (Only song I got into by them. Need to listen to more of them though.)

No Doubt

The Pretty Reckless (Yes, that is Taylor Momsen and she ******* rocks!)

Fireflight

Otep (really only ever got into that song, but I definitely love it)

Admittingly, I don't know most of these bands too well, but they are all bands I have enjoyed when I listened to them.

With the variety in there you are bound to enjoy at least one of those bands.

Nobody's said Pixies yet?! Kim Deal might not sing on every single song but she's on a lot of them on the first 3 albums.

Don't think they are around any more...... but I'd say The Breeders (and also The Pixies which had the same lead singer).

If it has to be rock music, then I like Rilo Kiley...

I listen to a ton of female artists and femalre fronted acts, but they all fall into the folk/country/death metal/doom metal/grindcore areas of music...

Kidneythieves

Discovered them in the early 2000s and their music stuck with me since then. They work as an independent label and really deserve some recognition for their music. They deserve to be vouched around.

Their most well known song, Before I'm dead (part of the soundtrack for Queen of the Damned)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNTJRAVm4Vo

They struck a chord with Square Enix too and produced a song for Final Fantasy Dissidia not long ago and they can be heard in Deus Ex: Invisible War as NG resonance.

Dissidia song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5pWLk73rhE

They are also just as good live as they are on record which is pretty amazing.
