[QUOTE="OldTopics"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]A pro marijuana video by someone that has a personal interest doessn't strike me as unbiased. I used science at least....

You wont be able to find much unbiased things considering how ridiculous it is that its illegal... and I thought this country was all about freedom. They do use science in that video. They show cold, hard facts that people like you tend to ignore.

People like me? Look I don't take anything as gospel when there is a clear bias toward it. Which that video and the others have. I use medical and science sites for information. Everything I read contradicts the information presented on pro sites and by the users of OT who apparently smoke the stuff.

I also used medical sites, as the video does as well, with multiple professors featured in the film who have phds and teach at places like Harvard

If we're going to fall back onto the "I used science" mentality I would say that science most definitely vindicates Pot being legal seeing as it's shown to be relatively harmless when compared to legal alternatives, non addictive, and the possibility of ODing on it impossible. See i can use science as well.

Science doesn't argue legality. It presents the health problems associated with weed. What I find strange is that those who use weed neglect those facts. If they use pot they should be familiar with the potential problems for it as well. But they seem to avoid those mentions.

Most things in life have potential problems if abused and overdone...this doesnt mean we need to take away that freedom

"Science" can definately support arguments for legality though. Plus if we're going to argue from a "is it healthy" platform weed would have been legal a long time ago.

Arguing that weed is unhealthy as a means to keep it illegal is easily the weakest argument one could make.

But they don't. They point out more detriments than benefits.:)

More detriments than benefits? I would say it's subjective given a position one is in. There's a reason why medical marijuana is being legalized by many states, it's because of it's medicinal properties. As for the every day person...health effects from smoking pot are non-existent. But again, this misses the entire point of trying to make something illegal merely because there are no "health" benefits for it. If the government was truly going out there and trying to keep unhealthy products out of our hands tobacco and alcohol wouldn't be legal. Given their status as LEGAL, we can quickly deduce that weed is illegal for reasons other than "healthiness", this much we can learn directly from scientifically studying weed use.

Honestly, If I were terminally Ill, I'd want some cocaine or something to ease the pain. And if it kills me, then cool. No more pain. If not, Cool. New pain relieving medicine. I don't believe that all drugs are bad. Offer me anything other than a doob and i'll refuse but thats because i have an idea of the effects the chemicals have on your body and what chemicals are being inhaled/ingested. I just don't like to ruin my body for an hour of fun. It's just not worth it.
