What do religious/creationists think about fossiles?

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A DEBATE ABOUT IF WHETHER EVOLUTION OR GOD IS REAL (SCIENCE VS RELIGION, EVOLUTION VS GOD). If you want to debate that AGAIN make a new topic of it.

IREALLY want to know what religious people who negate evolutionary theories think about what fossiles imply. What cavemen (and humanoid fossiles as well) imply and how can the ideas about god creating man as it is now deal with the evolutionary theory? And where all of our modern life forms came from. If it is not through evolution does it mean that dogs, lions and seals coexisted with dinosaurs? Even more, do they acknowledge the existence of dinosaurs and other humanoid forms?

This should be a post where "only compliments" about religious ideas about the origin of life on earth and where modern life beings come from and could be traced.

I don't know of any Christians that don't believe in evolution (at least to an extent) or any that believe we walking with Dinosaurs or anything like that.

First of all, it's young earth creationists who don't acknowledge evolution. (not all creationists are young earth creationists) I've seen just about every arguement they have, so I will answer on their behalf.

According to them, apes and humans are two different things. They believe that humans were created spontaneously, as the book of Genesis records. They also believe that animals were created spontaneously, and that they were on the ark with dinosaurs. (The dinosaurs couldn't have died before the ark because that is putting death before sin)

I don't know of any Christians that don't believe in evolution (at least to an extent) or any that believe we walking with Dinosaurs or anything like that.

Well, most would assume that hardcore evangelicals would believe that satan planted them there. Now I have yet to meet any creationist Christian who actually believes that. I think what it comes down to is not wondering how the fossils got there(any creationist I have known generally believe that they were planted there during the "great flood"), but what the actual ages of them are. The idea that "satan planted them there" creates a lot more questions than answers. Actually to me, that gives no answer. You just can't ignore the entire field of geology like these people do. I'm Catholic, but I don't "disbelieve" in science. Or rather, doubt it.

As a Muslim I believe those fossils are not fake. I also believe in evolution and the big bang.

Religion allows its followers to believe, based purely on faith.

It also allows people to reject rational evidence, based on faith too.

I read the other day a comment from a creationist in a newspaper, that fossils are false remnants of the past planted by God to test our faith.

Quite why he'd want to do that I'm not sure.

Maybe he's bored and likes to play tricks upon his creations. I know I probably would if I were him.

I've yet to read any rational evidence that supports religious belief. No studies have yet to be released to prove the existence of the paranormal or supernatural

I believe in natural selection and the changing of a species over time. I do not, however believe that one species can change into an entirely new species. And in the fossil record I have seen no evidence at all that we come from apes.. Every time a new bi-pedal, opposable thumb fossil is found everyone screams "the missing link". To me a jaw bone, hip bone, some skull fragments, that could very well belong to a chimpanzee, do not link humans and apes. The "missing link" discoveries tend to be based on scientific guesses and imaginative plaster molds and really prove absolutely nothing. Again I do not discount obvious facts such as natural selection and the tendency of a species to adapt to its environment over time. Did we come from monkeys? I have yet to see any proof and believe that theory is far far from the truth. Now I've spoken my peace, I'll be grabbing my flame shield.

Well I think that God just created everything aeons ago, and then its all been ticking over nicely since then. Including evolution. I'm pretty sure plenty of us crazy religious folk think something similar.

Fossil etc aren't really an issue. They're just animals that died a long time ago and became rock. So what? There are better ways of critiquing a religious standpoint on creation.
