Sauce. Gravy is brown and goes on beef, chicken, and turkey. Sauce goes on noodles.

I'm Italian, and I call it sauce.
Almost all of the Italians I know around me (Philly) call it gravy but I call it sauce. Gravy is the brown stuff.-Dionysus-
This is why:
when Italians came to America, many of them did not speak English. The typical American diet at the time consisted of a lot of heavy meat and stuff, and when cooking they would use the drippings to make gravy. Gravy would be used to sauce the meat and potatoes.
When learning English, it got misinterpreted and since both gravy and sauce are used to sauce food, pasta sauce was called gravy as it was used in similiar fashion.
But that was then, and this is now, and unless youre some old ass Italian lady, pasta sauce is FREAKING SAUCE! And gravy is GRAVY!
