[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Convenient that your the first to post on this topic, lol. I was going to drop your name as an example of what I consider a Vet here in GS. Youve had more posts in the past month, than ive had my entire six months being here, and im pretty sure you have the most posts out of anybody here in GS. From what I know atleast. But I would also say it is a combination of all three. I also think you need to be an OT regular for me to consider you a Vet. OT is the Bread and Butter of GS in my opinion.A combination of all three....none of them alone.
KcurtorMas
double_decker and fastesttruck would like to have a word with you. :P But... seeing as he has been here way longer, seen all the ups and downs, then I guess yeah he would be one.

Sadly, I usually laugh at my own jokes. That one didn't even raise a smile, so it must have been very bad indeed. :P[QUOTE="Teenaged"]No, I found it funny! :P[QUOTE="jimmyjammer69"]

Why someone wouldnt laugh at their own jokes?
A combination of all three.
-Not just levels, because of moderations.
-Not just posts, because you can spam all you want and get a high post count (see: RC)
-Not just years, as accounts could have been made 5 years ago that hasn't had any activity in that same span.
I mostly see a vet as someone who has been here for over 3 years, has been pretty active and posted during that time, and over level 30. The level isn't as important though.
Where's the fourth poll option of "a combination of the first 3 options". lol
See, someone can have a ton of garbage posts that are just like "lol that was funny" and a huge post count, but I don't consider them a veteran.
Someone can have a join date of 1740, but no posts, so I don't consider that a veteran.
And finally, someone can be a pretty high level with a relatively low post count (I think I've seen people with similar levels to me and significantly less posts, unless I'm just remembering wrong), so again...
I consider a combo of all 3 options to make someone a veteran. A good size post count (probably like 4-5000 or more shows you've been around a while), a good level, (25 or more), and a join date of at least 4 or 5 years ago.
[QUOTE="L8erSquare"]What about the number of Emblems they Have?

Although the title of the thread mentions Gamespot in general I think its referring mostly to the OT board. And quite frankly, emblems have nothing to do with being active in a forum. :?[QUOTE="LZ71"][QUOTE="L8erSquare"]

Or, they could be like post counts, and you could "spam" for them. Case in point: You don't even need to watch the game contests, or the E3 presentations. Just set it up, and leave it on until it ends. Emblem earned. The video ones can also be earned very easily.Emblems show off how active u are with GS and if your there for the big eventsL8erSquareNo, they just show active you are inevents which were given emblems and you can get a lot just for watching live vids which doesn't contribute to the community at all

Some of the others have more impact, like the soapbox, Bob Ross, and bounty hunter emblems. They're also a lot rarer than emblems for voting in a contest or watching a game marathon or press conference.

They're also a lot rarer than emblems for voting in a contest or watching a game marathon or press conference. How do you get a Bob Ross? I've got no emblems and I want a Bob Ross.
I go by join date and how much that person seems to contribute and what quality their contributions are. All other factors are fairly meaningless.
[QUOTE="jimmyjammer69"]How do you get a Bob Ross? I've got no emblems and I want a Bob Ross.DJ_LaeYou have to make a banner for one of the game pages - a lot of the old games still don't have any, although I'm not sure if they're still accepting submissions. Right. I don't have a lot of artistic talent so if somebody's already done Tetris, I'm screwed.

just by knowing how to navigate around the forums, and be able to post topics in the appropriate forums gets a veteran status to me,,,who cares how many posts and levels you have
[QUOTE="bangell99"]Woot, that means i'm nearly there by your standards.Level 30+, or 10,000+ posts.
th3warr1or
Haha, I am level 31 (99%), but my post count isn't even halfway there. :( I consider a vet on GS to have:
1. Been a member for 3+ years
2. Aquire 20,000+ posts
3. Be level 40+
