When I'm feeling down like the world is over for me, I usually find refuge in listening to certain music that gives me hope. It's usually soft and alternative stuff; artists like Sigur Ros, OneRepublic, John Mayer, and sometimes even the most random stuff--anything that can comfort or calm me down and deliver a peaceful tone and message. When I'm feeling like there's no hope left, music can usually bring it back, or at least make it appear so.
Sometimes I even feel better by watching certain movies that are about hope and bring about that kind of atmosphere--recently I realized that films like Lord of the Rings, Slumdog Millionaire, and Forrest Gump are perfect for that sort of thing, because that's how they make me feel: hopeful, relieved and able to hold my head high. It takes a lot for me to be able to feel that way after sinking down so low, so those must be great examples.
But I'm really interested in hearing what all of you do to bring your spirits up when you have that horrible depressed feeling that everyone goes through at some point in time.
