The way the entire Middle Earth is developed. There is lore for everything: all races, characters and locations have histories and everything is tied up together so perfectly.

The music in the films, the story is resonable too, the book story may just beat the films' music.

Music, effects and general production values. Something about it that makes it special compared to modern films. I never read the original novels, so I have no feel for the characters or the story in general, but it's a worthwhile watching experience for just about everything else.

I enjoyed all five poll options quite a bit. Apologies, TC.

Amen to that brother. This could've come out terribly had it been handled differently. Take Clash of the Titans for example.

That there is the perfect example of a movie that was made strictly because they could. They wanted to show off their fancy CGI and 3D, and the result was a terrible, boring movie that was painful to sit through.

When the series ended. Ya, I thought the movies looked fantastic, but the characters for me, were extremely annoying. Battle scenes were awesome though.

I like everything about the Lord of the Rings, the characters, the poems, but mostly the poems in the books. I prefered the books to the films, obviously.

I hated all three movies, though I pretended to like them in secret in fear I'd be ostracized... but I guess the special effects were pretty good. Plus, as far as movie trilogies go this one was well planned, I mean instead of making three separate films like several years apart as trilogies usually did, Peter Jackson did most the movie in one go with about a year of post-production between each film, so within 2 years of the first films release we already had the final film, and in the end the movies costs were just under $300 million and ranked in nearly $3 billion, pretty good in that respect.
