I'm currently developing one, and I want to know what the people think/want... So, what do you want when you play an MMORPG?

-Lots of grinding -Lots of unnecessary skills -Very long quests with lots of running around and little combat Hope that helps you make a great game. :)

Honestly, I look for the community first and foremost. It doesn't matter how great the game is, if I'm bombarded by 12 year old boys asking for sexual favors I can't play it. :P But everything else mentioned is good as well.

Freee online. I don't pay monthly fees for games. I might concider something like $50 a year, but even that would have me thinking twice. Other than that, tons of skills and classes to make a unique character with unique abilities, non-level based fighting (I like seeing how far my character has progressed by seeing how easily I can kill creatures that at one time I had no chance against, but those encounters should be reduced so they don't get anoying), tons of spells, tons of weapons, tons of magic items, and tons of armor, optional story, and a wide open world that I'm free to explore with a quick travel option so it doesn't take forever to reach your destination (Morrowind was terrible in this area so I quit playing it -- I don't want to have to hold down "W" for ten minutes to reach my destination, and turn around to do it again). Oh, and you should be able to rest to replenish magic and heal (I hate RPGs that make you use potions). Levels should come at a decent place and you should be able to level up to 200 (or higher). High level characters that kill lower level characters unprovoked should be punished by the gods (though perhaps a pay to get passed option should exist as well). There should be pleanty of humor too.

Not being exactly like Everquest is a good start.

Follow the Ultima Online model instead of the Everquest Model. UO got it right, it's just the technology wasn't there yet.

So, as fun as MMORPGs are, they don't hang out in OT ;) GGD would be a better place for you!
