I don't think Californians suck...in fact, it's my favorite state!

Maybe I'm slightly biased, being from California...

California is nice. Lived there for a couple years, lived in Monterey Place, which is an absolutely beautiful place. San Francisco is cool, only time I went to SoCal was to go to Disneyland so not too much knowledge about that area.

Northern California is beautiful. The closer you get to LA, though, the attitudes and landscape exponentially approach maximum suckage. Further south, you have the areas around San Diego which are pretty nice too.

I hate L.A.

They're probably just bitter that Californians live in the best climate on earth. A cold winter is 40 degrees here.Bio_Spark
Colorado has a sweet climate. It hit negative 20 last winter and 100 last summer.

i grew up in california, until i graduated high school and moved to colorado for school. i prefer colorado myself, mostly because of the climate and scenery, as well as many other reasons, such as political and legal ones. anyway, yeah, california is a nice place, too.

Since the Red Hot Chili Peppers mention the state in almost every song it must be pretty cool. I've been in California 3 times and it is a nice place but I don't think I could live there.

Well the trick with California is that you need to split it in two: you got Northern California ("NorCal") and you got Southern California (SoCal).

Now, I am a resident of NorCal. Ive been all over the world and, excluding a few lovely towns in England, I find the people in NorCal the nicest, most diverse bunch of people in the world. The worst you will encounter in NorCal is a stupid hippie driving a Prius.

SoCal, however, I dont like so much. Some of the people are nice, but enough of them are downright jerky socialites. Ever watch the OC? There really are lots of people like that littered over SoCal. I also find Southern California extremely ugly in terms of geography; LA was a desert up until the early 1900s. Add to that the smog, the high amount of illegal immigrants, and, worst of all, the traffic and I can see why some non-Californians only exposed to SoCal might have a bad impression of California as a whole.

I am biased. Sorry, but I do have my reasons. If you want to see the nice parts of California, dont go any further south than Santa Barbara. I wouldnt even go any further south than San Luis Obispo (great wine region, beautiful land)

California is one of the most politically backward places anywhere, and I'm ashamed to be a native Californian, although I no longer live in the state. San Francisco in particular, while it's a beautiful town, is a sick place. The disturbing values they hold undermine the honorable values of this nation as a whole, and they are constantly driving us toward a secular-progressive pseudo-untopia, which is intollerant of traditional common-sense values and completely infested with government intervention in our lives. I hate California, and I have about as much respect for the majority of people in California as I do for the French...so none.

Much of the time I hear about California it isn't a good thing. I recently heard a joke that said the only thing that comes out of California is fruits, nuts, and flakes... Btw, I'm not supporting what they said, I'm just the messenger.

I was born in Chicago and lived there for a while. Now, I live in San Diego California. I do not like it here. I do not consider myself a Californian. I cannot wait to move. So many people here are fake ********. The housing prices are terrible, the gun laws are overboard and the CA DMV sucks!

If what they said is true then never leave, then you wouldn't be a fruit, nut, or flake. :P

Don't feel bad about it though, I hear the same types of things about every area of the country...

That list is so inaccurate! It should read like this:

The United States:

Texas.

Those other, lesser, 49 states.

Wow, this is why Californians are so out of touch...you completely disregard the fact that there are 42 other states, most of which are ideologically completely opposite of you. When I lived there, I knew a lot of people like you. There is obviously no shortage of them. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I've never been to California and I don't notice that much of a difference between Californians and the rest of the country other than that Californians sometimes say 'hella' and it confounds me.

Ha, I lived in Cali for a couple years. In general, the opinion of Californians is that they are spoiled and think that the West Coast is so badass and that the girls are blonde ditzs, etc.

Everyone loves California though.

LOL at the people here. THe entire USA is virtually homogenous, or becoming more and more so (hey look, ppl from all over the world on one game forum.......I wonder if that breeds similar culture........?). South California reeks of illegal immigration, poor landscape, cultural unusualness in comparison to rest of US. Much more........liberal. Too liberal. But North carolina, and the rest of the nation are pretty much the same. You see these unusual changes or uniqueness when there is a concentration of people from all over in one area. Miami, NYC, etc., while all representing the US, also are unusual b/c they are exposed to massive immigration. So............."Californians" are just the same as "New Yorkians" or the residents of Texas (although they execute alot there lol). Immigrations makes everything unusual, and in 30 years California has undergone "browning" where there has been a virtual mexican invasion.

The USA isn't homogenous at all. The political values of people in NoCal and in Vermont are completely opposite.
