LOL at the people here. THe entire USA is virtually homogenous, or becoming more and more so (hey look, ppl from all over the world on one game forum.......I wonder if that breeds similar culture........?). South California reeks of illegal immigration, poor landscape, cultural unusualness in comparison to rest of US. Much more........liberal. Too liberal. But North carolina, and the rest of the nation are pretty much the same. You see these unusual changes or uniqueness when there is a concentration of people from all over in one area. Miami, NYC, etc., while all representing the US, also are unusual b/c they are exposed to massive immigration. So............."Californians" are just the same as "New Yorkians" or the residents of Texas (although they execute alot there lol). Immigrations makes everything unusual, and in 30 years California has undergone "browning" where there has been a virtual mexican invasion.peter1191

What wrong with being brown and plus everybody in America is an immigrate besides the Native Americans.

Nothing is wrong with being brown. The problem is that a huge amount of the brown people flood our welfare system, are illegal therefore not paying any taxes, don't know English so they can't contribute to society, and don't accept our culture and bringing some of their "backwards" ideas here.

I gotta be honest, I can see why someone would think of a Californian as arrogent, or at least think of me that way.

To me, this is the United States:

NorCal
SoCal
Oregon
Washington
Alaska
Hawaii
New York
And then some land in between lol. Sometimes I think about Maine or Boston.

its_me_

Wow, this is why Californians are so out of touch...you completely disregard the fact that there are 42 other states, most of which are ideologically completely opposite of you. When I lived there, I knew a lot of people like you. There is obviously no shortage of them. I guess ignorance is bliss.

And the best part is that I was 110...wait...130% serious! So serious that if your mind actually comprehended how serious I was, you would go insane!

In all seriousness, however, we dont really think like that. Of course Californian matters are on Californian minds, we do live here after all, but we are not so arrogent to think the West Coast is the only thing that matters. The thing is, we do know other places...because so many people that live here came to Cal, fleeing those other, lesser states :D

Um guys.......I'm brown. I'm from Egypt. LOL, so there is nothing wrong with being brown. Heck, this is the land of immigrants. But when one immigrant group grows too fast, the effects can be startling. Look at how the irish and germans changed our outlook. 1/3 of all US adults are catholic, and the pope visited us just last week (rewind back to 1928 elections, where people feared the pope was going to take over the us if democrat catholics Stevenson (I believe) was running for president). Variety is great, but at gradualism

I live and Love California - and I know it has its problems - but what state doesnt?

I love the fact (being here in LA) that I can visit the beach, the city, the desert, and the snow all in ONE day.

Fake people are everywhere - so I dont even see that as an argument. A lot of wannabe's though - mostly from the ones who are new here.

If this place wasn't so awesome - it wouldnt have all this immigration problems since every other immigrant wants to come live here.

But I can go on and on... I love California!

Uh whats wrong with Orange County? You want the earth to swallow up Disneyland, Knottsberry farm, the Angels, Newport Beach? Why? And please dont tell me its because of those shows on TV.

I stayed there three months and thought I was going to die. people are just so materialistic and fake there. and liek omg they liek to talk liek this. gives me a headache. I stayed two weeks at Newport Beach at a beach house, but the way people talked all day at the beach was annoying. Knottsberry farm is nothing special. Disneyland can live though, I like Disneyland. also people seemed so celebrity crazy, not something I'm used to. even my cousin who lives there agreed with me that she liked other places because people seemed more down to earth outside of the O.C.

I think of californians as being really laid back type of people. I live in new york but my dad is grew up in san jose and all he ever talks about is how nice the weather is the beaches, mountains etc. But I hear that LA is very bad and is over flowing by millions of illegal immigrants. Plus the whole MTV shows like laguna beach make me think alot of southern cal people are rich snobby over dramatic stuck up blonde ditzie girls running all over the place. Paris hilton like if you will. But I shouldn't generalize, but u can't blame me for doing it.

it nice here in california. People get the wrong idea of california because of those t.v shows, people would think different if it were based on a different state or something

Exactly. Native Californians (like me) always laugh at the posers who move here and try to fit in. Then other people come to visit and they think the locals act like these retards.

Most of those annoying people are not natives. They're trying to fit in with what they see on T.V. That's the one thing about Hollywood I despise. They've got everyone thinking that Californians are a bunch of mindless idiots. We're not, I assure you.

I don't think all Californians are like that, but the ones who are are beyong irritating, especially if you're not used to it. I know of these posers you're talking about, I've seen them myself actually. it makes me laugh because they look so silly. I once saw a girl who just moved there from Egypt and had a heavy accent trying to act gangster and talk ghetto. it just looked hilarious to me. but I do feel people in the O.C. are more materialistic than other places. and I don't like the fakeness and celebrity craze and plastic surgery all over the place.

[QUOTE="Hewkii"]San Francisco is nice. never been to southern California. and judging by what I've heard, that may be for the best.MrLions

what have you heard about us So CAL people

SoCal people are materialistic and shallow. That's why I would have never wanted to go to UCLA or USC for college. Even my friends from SoCal believe so. That seems to be the vibe everytime I take a road trip down there for Spring Break. Sorry, no offense. :)

I love it here. I was born and raised in LA and lived here all my life (except for a 6 month stay in DC, which i hated). I cant imagine living anywhere else
