For example for us, dogs wouldnt be considered intelligent life. but for an advanced alien race, maybe they dont consider us very intelligent or worthy of their time. we still kill fellow humans and what not, which to them may look like a bunch of monkeys throwing poop at eachother. So what do you think defines "intelligent life"? i dont think its a clear definition, we could easily be looked at as "un intelligent life" by advanced alien races

Anything similar to a human level of intelligence and problem solving. With that, I'd still find it fascinating if we ever even find anything animal like.

Most mammals. EDIT: If it dreams it's intelligent imo. Because dreaming is for the reinforcement of information and problem solving. Don't feel like going into crazy detail.

I agree with ants, but the rock part is just your level of intelligence speaking again... you being human and all. Rocks are inanimate objects, silly.

Wrong. My pet rock urinated on me as a kid. Inanimate objects can't do that. Thus, rocks are alive, and superior to humans in every conceivable way.

You might be right. I am human after all, and as such, am prone to making mistakes.

The ability to manipulate one's environment, communicate between one another, and uphold problem-solving complexities with the intent geared towards survival.

Honestly, that's a difficult question, and many would also say the ability to create technology. I don't know. Something along those lines though.

I would like to say intelligence is autonomy, but when compared with human intelligence, it seems infantile.

I suppose that'd be any being that is able to examine & assess various situations that they're observing or a situation that they're directly involved in rather than just operating on animalistic instinct with it's predefined behaviour.

Dolphins are supposed to be the next most intelligent following the homosapians.

something as simple as an insect or a fish, IMO. It has eyes, brain, moves, has "some" thought processes, basic life needs, etc. Bacteria would be simply "life."

the ability to learn form your mistakes, so i would count many potty trained pets smarter than those on face book that complain about how hard things are and how their life never changes.
