[QUOTE="BumFluff122"]

[QUOTE="_en1gma_"] Yeah...that's why I said it should be specifically considered a "spiritual" question, not a "religious" question. No matter...there are tons of beliefs concerning what happens after we die and a ton of paranormal events and subjects that we can't exactly explain. Why would you discount any ideas that predict what happens after we die? There is absolutely NO way to know...BladeOfHeaven

Oops I think I must have read your statement wrong. I'm not discounting anything. While you may see it as a spriual question others will see it as a religious question. I guess it matters what your beliefs are.

But in the other thread you said you were always right. I had so much faith in you!

I am also a compulsive liar.

Well, while I think the question is irrelevant, I think there are two possible choices, the first is the body just rots and blah blah idea, but if the 'soul' does go on, your mentality would have to go with it, so it would probably be more or less a never ending dream in which you are conscious of your death.

[QUOTE="_en1gma_"] You only did that because your brain was functioning. I have had tons of out-of-body experiences, but I never thought of them as confirming an afterlife._en1gma_

Out of body experience does not indicate afterlife, however there is a way to confirm afterlife through meditation, you can tell it's real.

What exactly do you mean? How do you confirm afterlife through meditation? Am I meditating wrong? :P

I used to go to meditation classes a long time ago, it's called Superconscious state- where you are both concious and unconscious at the same time. Sense perceptions like touch and smell are mere impulses to your brain, in the same manner you'll find your vision is alsonothing but impulses to your brain but only in the superconscious state, you can see this in the Matrix movie- they sort of implemented the same concept. But how to tell if someone is telling the truth? you can tell by it's effects, when you go to sleep at night you are the same person after you wake up but whenyou enter superconscious state- you go in as a fool but come back as a saint or with saint-like characters, the effect is immediate and precise, this is not a random chemical imbalance....

Same as it was before we were born. Religion is a pathetic crutch.

BumFluff122

What does religion have to do with this? :? Anyways...there is obviously no way of knowing now, but hopefully something happens.

The question is basically a religious question. You either believe you go to heaven or you believe that you disolve into the ground.

You dont necessarily have to be religious to believe that there is an afterlife. The ideas of heaven and hell are religious ones. I for one hope there is an afterlife to roam around in. The thought of being COMPLETELY non existent when I die just pisses me off, think about it, you wont be able to see, think or do anything. So I for one really hope that there is an afterlife.

Being Christian, if I lived a good life, then I'll go to heaven, or if I didn't Hell. Honestly, If I didn't believe in god, I still don't think I'd be totally atheist. Believing in that absolutley nothing happens after death, and we all become dirt, is very sad and boring thought to me. :P

I hope there is one as well because I would love to see how the human race continues to exist. I'd actually love to be reborn again with all the knwoledge I currrently have. That's just a want though and it has nothing to do with reality. I do know perfectly well that there is much about reality we do not know or understand.

I do believe in an afterlife btw, just not sure if it's the one exactly described by religions. I feel it might just be another plane of existance, one where you just relax.

BladeOfHeaven

The idea that one exists before life (prelife) is a religious one. So was I just wandering the earth and millions of years later randomly go, "Well time to go start actually existing"?

Probably the same thing before we were born. (I like this idea.) I don't know nor mind what was before I was born. So I guess I wont mind nor know being dead. I like to think something is there but I don't know.

What do you think happens after death? I think we hang around earth right after we die and we expect god to show up but he doesnt. Then you ask other spirits if they seen god and they say theres no evidence of his existence as far as they know. then im like I guess its alright to be a atheist.

slipknot0129
What are you basing any of that on? Considering it's impossible to have any idea of what it's like after death, I'm just going to assume nothing happens, since you're dead.

Well it's obvious what happens, you wake up intstantly somewhere else with probably no memory of your past life. This is because when you are dead and without conciousness, time passes infinitely fast so in a split second billions of years will have past and something will have happened eventually to perhaps bring back the dead or find out where the souls go or anything like that. Because that is all that can happen, time will past so fast and if a way isn't found to bring the dead back, the universe will end a split second after we die and perhaps a new universe will be created with completely different physics, who knows. That's my view of it at least, it's a bit mind boggleing

What do you think happens after death? I think we hang around earth right after we die and we expect god to show up but he doesnt. Then you ask other spirits if they seen god and they say theres no evidence of his existence as far as they know. then im like I guess its alright to be a atheist.

Since souls never die, we live on, whether it be in heaven, hell or some other form of spiritual existence.

Nothing happens. We die, lose conscienceness, rot, then life goes on for the other people who didn't die yet.ManifestoJoe

Well, first you let loose the bowels of hell itself, then unsure. Or, you can be a real butthead and wait till the second rigamortis hits and just take your time with it. After that.. hmm. Dunno.

It would be cool if once you die you just start off as a new person, but with no memory of your past life.

wouldnt it suck if say you got to the pearly gates and all that was there was a sign saying "Heaven iscurrently over-populated you will be redirected to Limbo, sorry for the inconvienience(SP?). Best regards God".

but seriously i dont know what happens, it would be cool if we continue on some place else, but it could just as well be that we just get erased. That would suck though.
