I'd say "There's no such thing as a stupid question".
No, there's definitely such thing as a stupid question. The serial hand raisers in college classrooms pretty much prove this.

"Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic".....You will hear this constantly within 5 minutes of hanging out at any AA meeting, but I call bull.
"There's always a bigger fish"....Not always true
"If it aint broke, don't fix it"....sometimes wise, but not always.
That last one is always true, I just ignore it."Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic".....I call bull.

So do I for the most part, but many things aren't necessarily broken, but can be improved. Just because it aint broken doesn't mean it can't be fixed by improvement.

The first one is to emphasis a life style change. The need to avoid all alcohol because many people can relapse after just one drink.
"You can be whatever you want when you grow up" Um... no.. no you can'timaps3fanboy
yea, along with "if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything".....:x
"It's all part of God's plan" or "Things happen for a reason". No. Sometimes, life just likes to give you a big middle finger, a kick in the ass, and then mock you incessantly. Nobody gets addicted to drugs or alcohol or pills for a reason. Nobody gets raped for a reason. Nobody has a miscarriage of a baby they really wanted for a reason. Nobody is abused for a reason.
And natural disasters do NOT happen for a reason besides the scientific explanation behind them. There is no higher power up in the sky saying "LOL, nothing bad has happened to Japan in a while. Let's shake things up!" (and yes, I know that was a horrible 'joke' to make, but I don't really find it funny that people are actually out there thinking that thousands of people ended up dead, homeless or orphaned because it was "meant to be" that way.) It's a horrible tradgedy and dismissing these types of things as "happening for a reason" is both disturbing and disrespectful to me.
I think everything happens for a reason, and some of the things you said happen to let other prepare from it happening again. Some people die from drug addiction, and some get through it. Those who get through it, often learn from it (I think) and if not, other people learn from it."It's all part of God's plan" or "Things happen for a reason". Natural Disasters, like Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, it's unfortunate that it happened, but now look at the city, it's regrowing and it built on the mistakes that let the hurricane destroy their city.
That's just what I think, obviously sometimes they aren't true, but I'm sure someone no matter how little, learns something from something else happening.
"God loves all his children." Bull, as a heterosexual I never understood why people use this saying when it is clearly not true for the other orientation. Homosexuals are born the way they are and they can't act on emotions without being damned by the book praising a god that loves all his children. You don't love something if you damn it before it is even born.
Life's too short; clearly it's not.

Depends on how long you live. If you die at 90 then life isn't short, if you die at 20 then it is short.
When Rose told Jack that she wouldn't let him go...then less than 5 seconds later she let him go and he sunk to the bottom of the sea :(
I think it's trying to say that, if you eat the cake, you no longer have it, because it's eaten. It's just that the saying is so ambiguously worded as to be borderline meaningless.Less untrue, and more just stupid
"you can't have your cake and eat it too."
I get the meaning, but...
WHAT THE ***** IS THE POINT OF HAVING A CAKE IF YOU NEVER BLOODY EAT IT!!!
dercoo
If you eat the toast's crust, you will get curly hair.
Also, if a guy eats vegetables or something, he will get a hairy chest.
And some others that come to mind have already been said. (:
"Money doesn't buy happiness"
GO **** yourself. Yes it does! How else would I be able to pay for video games, movies, music, pr0nz etc.
"x party is fear mongering in order to gain support"
it is so untrue because it implies that is the only party doing this.
"You can't judge a book by its cover."Planet_PlutoYou can't >.> For me, it's "You can't have your cake and eat it too" It's my f****** cake. Why can't I eat it?
God works in mysterious ways.
**** you, no he doesn't. My gripe is mostly with what XilePrincess said in the 1st page.
"the customer is always right"
Not when they're in the wrong, and if I know more about the damn products that they do.
Not to go way off topic but there's this really good song by The Mountain Goats called "No Children". Listen to it. "I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow, I hope it bleeds all day long, our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises, we're pretty sure they're all wrong..." The whole album is about being stuck in a relationship with someone you hate and both parties tyring to make the other as miserable as possible. Pretty powerful. But on topic..."Life's not fair." That may be true. But it usually gets used as a reason to not make something better."It's always darkest before the dawn...."
No, it's not, not literally, not figuratively.
gotdangit
Money can't buy happiness. It most assuredly can and does.
Nobody has ever been more incorrect than the person who made that s*** up.
Einstein once said 'Thedefinition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
First,
There is no proof Einstein said this.
Second,
It's not the definition of insanity.
Third,
Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results can be considered PRACTICE.
