Depends on how long you live. If you die at 90 then life isn't short, if you die at 20 then it is short.

"It's all part of God's plan" or "Things happen for a reason". No. Sometimes, life just likes to give you a big middle finger, a kick in the ass, and then mock you incessantly. Nobody gets addicted to drugs or alcohol or pills for a reason. Nobody gets raped for a reason. Nobody has a miscarriage of a baby they really wanted for a reason. Nobody is abused for a reason.

And natural disasters do NOT happen for a reason besides the scientific explanation behind them. There is no higher power up in the sky saying "LOL, nothing bad has happened to Japan in a while. Let's shake things up!" (and yes, I know that was a horrible 'joke' to make, but I don't really find it funny that people are actually out there thinking that thousands of people ended up dead, homeless or orphaned because it was "meant to be" that way.) It's a horrible tradgedy and dismissing these types of things as "happening for a reason" is both disturbing and disrespectful to me.
