Seriously the other night i was driving home and i saw 4 police cars not even 2 minutes apart from eachother. two each in same locations. Don't police have better things to do than waste tax paper dollars just sitting on there butts? and just getting people for speeding.

On another not my 17 year old sister got a ticket for driving 10 mph over speed limit she was going down the hill. so now she has to take a class seriously what about the rest of the people who break the rules and laws? that they can CLEARY SEE. yet sit on there butts and DO NOTHING. cops love to harrsed young people applenty its all about the "money" they get enough of my money.

Cops are more important than you give 'em credit for. American cops though... Maybe not.

Sometimes they go a bit over-board, but some are just going to do that.

99% of Cops are great. But like with anything else there are a few bad apples that I dont hold against the majority.

People seem to hate till they need them.

Anyways, I like cops. They keep order in society.

While I don't agree that your sister should have gotten a ticket for speeding down a hill (that's probably one of the most dangerous spots to be going too fast, but it happens), having cops out looking for people speeding is necessary, otherwise why would we keep to speed limits if we wouldn't get caught? I'm planning on marrying somebody who is going to become a cop, so I guess I can't hate cops. There's bad ones and good ones, but I like to think most of them are in it to help people.

Some I respect others because they might work a bad area but others I don't especially ones that are in a small town that has no crime.

I think that tv shows and movies often make them look useless. For example, Die Hard. I know John McClane is a cop, but he's all renegade so it doesn't count.Every other cop isn't doing anything helpful, and most die pretty quickly after encountering a bad guy. Then the FBI comes and tells them not to interfere.

My sister thinks my dad going to bail her out with money.

Think about all the things that didn't happen to you today; you didn't get raped, run over by a reckless driver, robbed, or murdered. Thank your local law enforcement for that; or maybe you'd rather live in a place like Somalia where law enforcement is nonexistant.

Yes, because somebody cracked down on your sister means they aren't doing their job elsewhere.

There's something called a radio that allows us to be informed of situations and then respond. Believe it or not we can't be everywhere at once!

I'm not keen on cops but still I think it's right that your sister got done for speeding. Being 10mph over the speed limit is not 'a mistake'.

Even going downhill.

I've only seen staties doing one of two things: sitting on the median with their radar guns out, or barreling down the highway at 100 mph (without their sirens on). Never seen a single one do anything useful.

Wait, I take that back. I was on I-90 one day, and this fat girl screamed past me in some POS car. About 5 minutes later, I passed a statie sitting on the median... rounded the corner going about 15 mph over, and he immediately pulled out onto the road, so I thought I was f***ed, but he went right past me, and another 5 minutes later, I passed him again, after he had pulled over the fat girl.... on the f***ing offramp to the rest stop McDonald's that she was trying to go to. Nearly died laughing..

Being pulled over for going over the limit just a little is BS, when half the time I see idiots racing down my neighbourhood and circling around my cul-de-sac or whatever.

But otherwise, if I see somebody just asking for it and getting pulled over/arrested, I think, "Good."

You do know that highway patrol is only a single area of the State Troopers' mission, right?

Most have special task forces ranging anywhere from drugs, to computer crimes. There's a common misconeption that shows the FBI coming and handling high-profile cases when it's actually the State Police, so long as it's not a federal crime.

Well then, I guess your sister shouldn't have been speeding. Try asking HER why she had to make a cop waste his time writing her a speeding ticket when that cop shouldv'e been able to spend his time doing more important things.

Highway patrol is a boring, a**, job. I augmented the local State Trooper detachment and it SUCKED.

It has to be done, though.

why is he hiding from the damn start? :| don't sit there and bs me when i cleary stated what my sister did was WRONG. READ. i am talking more than one thing. geeze and there other people going 20-30 times faster than going 10mph over the speed limit.

20-30 times faster than 10 over thespeed limit? So they were driving down the street at over 200-300 Mph? Was she driving on a NASCAR track?

how did you get 200-300 mph? out of that your just rounded what ever number pops in your head. teh speed limit is 35 in the area she was going. people go 60 or lower on my mom road. to cut through to get to concrd nh. so ye there is plenty of prove of other speeders. i think i rather stop people who are going higher than 10 mph over speed limit god shakes that really not that bad. its not right but... seriously

[QUOTE="Dark__Link"]I meant more in context of my day-to-day interactions with them.airshocker

Highway patrol is a boring, a**, job. I augmented the local State Trooper detachment and it SUCKED.

It has to be done, though.

I don't get why they don't just set up unmarked, automatic systems to track speed and issue tickets. I'd be absolutely furious if they did, but from their perspective, I can't see why they don't. Still retain a few staties on the highways to catch reckless people, though.

Besides the one that pulled me over for no reason, they have given me little reason to detest them. The only time I've been written a ticket, I was speeding 16 mi/hr over the limit in a residential zone w/ a 200$ additional fine for speeding. Coincidentally, it is the road I live on. After court costs, that would have run me ~ $450. The guy let me off with a $30 "failure to obey a road sign." Didn't even go to court for that.
