just wondering what you think about them.

I think I would never spend hard earned money on one... ever... raven_squadmy mom said she was thinking about buying one, she said we could get like an '06 one cheaper than we could get an '01 honda or something like that, and i was thinking maybe it's that way because hyundai and them suck.
[QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"]It's a Japanese car. I wouldn't buy it.Yagr_ZeroActually Hyundai and Kia are Korean. I might buy a Hyundai, they had a couple of good cars. But I wouldn't touch a Kia. Oh. Even worse... -shudders- I'll stick with American or European made cars.

I thought Kia was an offshoot of Toyota? (Edit: Nope, I'm thinking Scion)Hyundai, after finishing their 6 sigma program under a decade ago, now consistently ranks at the top of the boards in quality and reliability.
Edit 2: Kia is an offshoot of Hyundai.
hyundai always seems like the "knock off" version of a honda... you know where they change the name just enough to be a legal company, but still confuse stupid people.
Kia seems like a car w/ no resale value probably because the parts are not exactly made to last very long.
Affordable, haven't heard a lot of positive comments on either, have heard a few negative one's about Kia however, don't they offer a 100,000 mile warranty? Second_RookYou can't measure reliability by random comments on the interwebs. Old perceptions take time to change.
[QUOTE="FragStains"]If I was in the market, I'd buy one.mattbbplConsumer Reports have good things to say about Hyundai/Kia as well. Makes sense since they recently finished the same programs that made the Japanese cars reliability kings. It's a shame people just look at the name and make assumptions...I guess it's all about the brand.

Just like how Sony was able to ride their brand reputation for two decades while quality slipped, and now you're seeing other brands step up to replace them as quality leaders.
Kia - ha ha ha ha no I will not drive those things!
Hyundai - I'm really loving the Genesis Luxury Sedan and the Genesis Coupe Sports Car.
My ride for business trips.
My ride for Drifting!
I've really enjoyed my '08 Santa Fe and have had absolutely zero problems with it. 10yr/100,000 mile warrenty is nothing to scoff at either. It's good on gas, has plenty of space and drives pretty nice.
I don't know much about them, besides the fact that they are rather affordable. I am tempted to say it'd be better to stick with a slightly older model from Honda, or Toyota, both brands being quite reliable. If money is an issue, I certainly understand. I would do research to see how reliable Kia, and Hyundai vehicles are if you are planning to purchase a used one.
Hyundai's are okay, but they wouldn't be no-where near first on my list when I'm
looking for a car to purchase. And I think you're better off walking than buying a Kia.
Hyundai was founded in 1947. Honda was founded in 1948. The new Hyundai Genesis is actually one of the best cars on the market. It has also one a lot of important awards. If you care to read about them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Genesis#Awardshyundai always seems like the "knock off" version of a honda... you know where they change the name just enough to be a legal company, but still confuse stupid people.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe = One of the best affordable perfomance cars in the market. It's really an amazing car. If I would ever buy a hyundai, that would be the only one.

Have you seen the Kia Forte? It looks almost identical to the Honda Civic. That said, I think I'd still consider a car like the Forte.
I would buy a Kia Forte. Nothing wrong with it..TauruslinkThat cars sells like hell in my country, and I personally think it's really cool I had a Kia Pride,we kept driving it for more than 200 thousand kilometers, this car has been through hell, and it still kept going we now have a Kia Picanto, and I think it's pretty good considering its price

And those people end up with unsafe, unreliable cars.

If i'm that paranoid about safety,I'd buy a tank :D no,seriously accidents happen to anybody,it really depends on the driver to avoid themThey're much better than they're given credit for, and by all accounts their newest models (ie the Genesis, Tuscon, Forte and Soul), while not quite best-in-class, are certainly knocking on the doorstep. I'd sure as hell take a Hyundai or Kia over a comparable GM or Chrysler.
