I studied Japanese in college, and spent a year on foreign exchange in Nagoya, Japan. I graduated about four years ago, and I'm currently looking to get into the JET Program (applied once already, and didn't get in).amishpriestDid you have to go in externally from your university? Or did they try and help you with getting into JET?
Spanish (taking Spanish II at the moment), but I dont know any of the language because my teachers are piss-poor

The first time I applied was in 2005, which was a couple of years after I graduated. I wasn't looking to get into JET right out of college, although the most my Asian Studies program was ever involved in the process was in getting JET Program recruiters to visit. There's really not much they can do anyway besides giving you letters of recommendation and helping you complete your application. If you're able to make it to the Washington DC area, the JET Program holds a good orientation for the whole process around October of each year, which is also the time when the applications become available.
Since when do you post here Wally? :PI studied Spanish in high school, now I'm learning Russian.

Washington is a little out of the way....you know...given that I live in England, lol.I am fluent in English, French, Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi, Japanese, and Thai. I know how to write, read, and speak all languages. Lol, I'm senti-lingual. (7 languages)OmiBladeHows did you manage that? I envy people who had access to being billingual at an early age.
I've taken French since Kintergarten. I'm pretty fluent, I just have trouble understanding T.V., though I only get Canadian French TV and I speak the Parisian dialect. I'd also like to learn German one day. à mon avis le français est la plus belle langue du monde!:DJe dirais l'italien, mais le Français est grand aussi!
