According to the constitution, we have a limited government run by the people and for the people. The first ammendment gives us freedom of speech, and the second ammendment gives us the right to bear arms (what many people don't know is that this ammendment was intended for us to protect ourselves from the government)UT_WrestlerAnd so that the militia could be armed..:P..
Can't for some reason eh? *proxy* cough cough. Anyway, I Why? This thread seems perfectly acceptable. Can somebody alert a mod this thread? I can't for some reason.

Yeah that too. It's ironic how the framers formed a government based on their distrust of government.

I was reading something interesting about the 14th amendment recently as well...speaking of the constitution..
Illuminati-controlled puppet-fascism maintaining an illusion of democracy and liberty.
It's actually a constitutional representative republic, right?
Yeah they tried and the articles failed, then they adopted the constitution.
Articles gave States too much power and Government too little..which was meant to be fixed in the Constitution..it seems as if the government has too much power now unfortunately..Constitutionally we have a Democratic Republic. In practice, its democratized oligarchy with dictatorial tendencies.

*ahem* sorry i mean were supposed to be a republic:D
I'm not really sure I understand the point of this question; if it's in response to those who call the United States a democracy, then I'm fairly sure that those people do in fact understand both that we elect government representatives and that those representatives' ability to pass laws are regulated and restricted by a constitution.

Constitutional democracy.
Which is a subset of a broader category of government called Representative democracy.
A subset because while there areRepresentatives, the US system limits the power of Representatives by enshrining other mechanisms and powers in the Constitution, most significantly inalienable rights.
