Planescape Torment perhaps. The Planescape universe is really interesting, and with a lot of gruesome special effects and a good cast it would make a great movie in my opinion. Not a 90 minute Hollywood horror movie, but if it were approached correctly, it could be great. For the role of the Nameless One I nominate either a reanimated Boris Karloff or Thomas Haden Church. Those strike me as great choices.

I have also always imagined Thief making an AWESOME movie if it is put in the hands of a master who understands suspense and if it is designed after the games' patient, spooky and haunting atmosphere. Not sure what actor would play him right now.

Penumbra might make an excellent movie as well if it were well made and all that. Same as above.

FEAR would be a pretty awesome movie if done correctly..

I haven't seen a good game-to-movie translation yet, so I'm hesitant to suggest anything.

I'll admit though that the Mass Effect movie has got me somewhat excited. With any luck, it could turn out to be the first movie of it's kind I'll love.

Yup, it was announce a while ago. On the Bioware community forum, and here's a link to IGN as well.

I'm interested to see what happens with it, although I really shouldn't be getting my hopes up.

Contra.

Firstly, no one cares about the game's storyline, so no one's going to complain about how the movie changed things.

Secondly, all it needs is giant robots, messed up aliens, and about 50 million bullets. Shoot it like a dumb 80s style Schwarzenegger movie, and it will be what it is. What it will be is big, dumb, and violent, and that'll be fairly awesome.
