And yes, I'm well aware that Indie isn't actually a genre, but the info is automatically filled in whenever I rip a CD and I'm too lazy to change it.

[QUOTE="Juggernaut140"]Thrash and Death Metal cyberdarkkid8) This. Except for the Death Metal part, I think it still hasn't caught up to some other genres I have since I have barely started finding decent or awesome DM bands . Electronic combined with techno, house, and trance are also up there if you put metal aside. For every good death metal band there's about 20 crappy ones

That's true of basically every music genre (including basically every metal subgenre). :P
Except in the case of stuff like pop and rap, where the ratio is more like 1000-1. :P

It's all subjective, I feel the same way about Metal. I find one band I like, Mercyful Fate, and then everything else I listen to blows.... Subjectivism is my friend :P[QUOTE="Ace_WondersX"]40GBs of hip-hopbattlefront23Holy crap dude! That's impressive. What artist do you have the most of out of curiosity? The difference being when death metal is bad, it's really bad. You're only listing mostly melodeath bands at this point which is fairly easy to listen to. Go onto the metal encyclopedia site and start sampling the bands.[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="DivergeUnify"] For every good death metal band there's about 20 crappy onesDivergeUnify

Classic Rock, Hard Rock, pretty much any kind of rock other then all this new stuff that claims to be rock.
That's quite an ignorant view. Many modern rockbands are better than stuff like AC/DCClassic Rock, Hard Rock, pretty much any kind of rock other then all this new stuff that claims to be rock.

[QUOTE="ice_rootbeer"]That's quite an ignorant view. Many modern rockbands are better than stuff like AC/DC I just prefer the classics. I have nothing against the new bands, it's just lots of them, not all of them, claim to be rock when it's really more like pop. Like I said, I have nothing against them. I prefer stuff like AC/DC and Aerosmith.Classic Rock, Hard Rock, pretty much any kind of rock other then all this new stuff that claims to be rock.

Most of mine is metal of the heavy variation. Though I do have a bit of everything in my collection.
Melodic Death Metal, with Progressive Metal coming in as a close second. Darth-Caedus
Really, I thought it would be pop. :o
Seriously, though, I do need to break up my metal into subgenres... right now it's all just labeled metal. :P

Categorizing metal bands is annoying sometimes... stupid Kamelot and their symphonic and power metal :x
Its pretty much all underground rap followed by metal and everything by Pink Floyd. I need to look for more metal though.Bruin4ev3r1520You like Cyne, he's pretty good.

Also, screw Kamelot and their multi-genre crap (okay, no, they're one of my favorite bands so I forgive them), I'm probably just going to label them symphonic and be done with it. :x

By the way, what are Bolt Thrower and Nile? Techincal Death Metal? Also, would Death just qualify as Death Metal, or is there a specific subgenre for it?

I like Black Sabbath a lot, like I own most of their CD's that had Ozzy on them. I hate Dio though. I got Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality, Black Sabbath Volume 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage. After that they aren't worth buying. I just like Hip Hop a lot more then metal, I think Hip Hop is something I just appreciate more because I respect clever writing and I love bass and well done Hip Hop production. I also think in terms of vocals the great hip hop artists are unbeatable.[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="Toriko42"] It's all subjective, I feel the same way about Metal. Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are definitely worth buying, imo.
Chessmaster, would you consider it cheating if I checked out the 30 second bits on iTunes of the bands you've posted? :P

Not really. Better if you check out whole songs, but I sometimes cheat and use iTunes as well. :P

Oh, and it turns out that Heavy Metal is by far the most common subgenre of metal I have. I have nearly three times as much of it as of the next genre. :P
But, then again, I do still have a lot of music I want to buy, and not that much more Heavy Metal I want to buy...
