Tried to hang out with her again after starting to talk to her years after I had moved. Found out she is too consumed by her own problems to be dating anyone, and she also has terrible taste in men.

Pretty much a big "oh well" at this point. Things could have been great, but I wasn't willing to wait forever for her to grow up and my feelings for her are pretty much dead....

Somewhere at the bottom of the ocean....she's a marine biologist now.

You're overreacting to a statement that has generally been true in my experience. Sure there are exceptions, but most people that I've met (male and female) value physical appearance much more than any type of emotional connection.

For your information...I'm not attracted to any guys unless I have emotional attraction to him. I don't check guys out on the street, or even give them a second glance until I feel a connection with them. I am just simply not physically attracted to someone until I have an emotional connection with them first, and once I do have an emotional connection, they become the most beautiful person in the world to me.

And just so you know...I've asked guys out who are 300+ pounds before just because they had that "spark" and because they had the spark, were gorgeous to me.

Its just simple genetics to seek an able bodied mate, both men and women do it. beauty isn't in the eye of the beholder, its most defiantly genetic. babies tend to prefer prettier people, studies have shown.

I apologize that I'm not on some "higher emotional plane of existence" like you are, I live in the real world, where pretty people get everything handed to them by virtue of good genetics.

My reading on human psychology and genetics proves to support me, in my ideas about the laws of human attraction.

People, no matter how much you wish to deny it, are animals that exhibit specific habits when it comes to the way they think, live their lives, and chose a mate.

Just because we have a higher brain capacity doesn't mean that we aren't slaves of nature. the only things that a larger brain has afforded us is an ability to process abstract thought and hold greater attachments to people and things in our lives. I embrace the former, and rather dislike the latter.

I don't totally disregard the latter, because I can't. nobody can. I just dislike our tendancy towards it.
