These days in movies we dont have the action stars we had in the 80s. The only guys I can think of as an action star sort of is Jason Statham, Clive Owen and to an extent Daniel Craig. Action heroes these days are too dull, for example in the new Die hard John McClane didnt mouth off to authorities like he used to. Our action stars are more wussy and they dont take chances. The Dirty Harry series is a good action series because Harry isnt a good cop, he gets the job done sure but he does it in his way and he gets people injured. Also in The Enforcer he seemed almost sexist to the new female cops when really he didnt want the police station to be filled with cops who were hired just so the station can seem more open to females. Thats why I like the Diry Harry movies, he does what he wants and mouths off to everyone. What do you guys think?

laugh if you want but dwayne johnson will be a action star also christian bale will be a action star he has batman and will be in the new terminator which is rumored to be a triology on the future part of the story.

things to blame like between spring and early fall movies that are rated r dont come out as much with little kids and parents wanting to take there kids to good movies. so like october through february is the better time for more hardcore action if you will but there just arent anymore stars.

statham, owen, johnson, bale, vin diesal come to mind as potential action stars. but your stallones, arnolds, and willis are just old and dont do it anymore same with your eastwoods and even harrison ford.

action is a dieing genre right now

cgi is still going strong and may still be the future with more of it since its cash cow. look there coming with a 4th shrek after all

The rock only made one good movie, the rundown, his other stuff sucks. i wouldnt say Christian bale is an action star, he's much too good of an actor to be labeled as an action star, plus batman isnt really just an action movie. You dont see other comic book movie actor labeled as action stars. Vin Deasel is ok, nothing special.

there really arent any current arnolds or stallones. we mostly just get stuck with ex-wrestlers. though i do think tony jaa has potential (if only he could learn english before hes too old and broken).

*gasp*:o Heresy.

And there don't seem to be any real, good action heroes left. They need to make a hero that kills everybody, sadistically beats informants, and causes lots of general mayhem. But he's the good guy.

I know what you mean. In the 80's and early 90's we had Arnold, Stalone, Van Damme, Segal, Bronson, and Chuck. Man, lot of action with little plot. I miss those.

Maybe your opinion is false:P

The genre has been slowly dying for me for a while now. I Prefer horror, sci-fi or dramas.

Take Chuck off that list, all his movies suck and the only reason people these days still know him are because of the chuck norris jokes. How could you not list Bruce Willis, Kurt Russell or Mel Gibson?

I miss the good old days when Mel Gibson was considered crazy but in a cool way. Who can forget that awesome in Lethal Weapon when they were in the shooting range?
