i don't know but it's rather sad. People just aren't putting thought into them. and being creative anymore. They just make everything vector based. What happened to shows like Kablam?

Part of it is cartoon companies have dumbed the shows way down to entertain like 5 years olds now where as they used to have a lot of adult humor. The other is the cartoon companies don't have the money they once did because kids are into other shows how (probably because the current ones suck).

Ya, all the cartoons that are worth watching are dead.

Also, people liked Recess? I HATED Recess, that was my least favorite show growing up. :o

I miss my tiny toons and animaniacs. Bugs bunny was taken off the air because he wears dresses and kisses boys and replaced with violent cartoons from japan who look like michael Jackson. It's really sad. Kids today prefer the violent nature over quality cartoons, but thats a sign of the times. If you are a product of the now generation like you have some type of mental disease or are suicidal or would be with the slightest hint of something bad happening to you.

Man i remember the days when you could get into a fight with a bully at school and be playing baseball with him later that day, never worrying about him going insane and bringing a gun to school, or having you arrested because YOU FOUGHT BACK and hurt him.

Pretty much this. The companies realized that today's young kids are into a much dumber/simpler humor than in other generation. Why would they waste their time writing better material if it won't net them more profit?

I partially blame Family Guy. That show's success (back when people still watched it) made cartoon devs think totally random, stupid, dumbed down humor was the new funny. That fad died off some but the trend still continues today. Everything in the cartoons is super random and trying too hard to be funny.

I can't even get that channel so you're lucky. I miss my scooby doo and Hong-Kong phooey. I use to love Nicktoons because they would show the old nick cartoons, sadly not anymore.

I don't think is just cartoons but anime as well imo. yea I haven't found a good anime that is mature as like cowboy bebop, samurai champloo, or Ghost in the Shell. Yea I hear a lot of anime fans talk about Death Note and I watch like the 5 first. Thought it was boring imo. Cmon Japan! Release more anime for a a mature audience. Haruhi Suzumiya anime. It looks really dumb and I don't like its design.

does this look a 17 year old to you?

if you turn on any kids' channel that used to air that kind of stuff, I can promise you you'll vomit in your mouth a little at what's on now. 3-D looking, shiny crap is the new 'in' thing. There's some show that seems to be always on that's a mix of anime, 3-D and what looks like dinosaur figurines. The standard has gone severely downhill.

What's worse is they only have like 2-3 shows now and they run them in marathon blocks every SINGLE day. I just checked CN and there is 2 hours of Chowder (the least funny cartoon ever), and on Nick there is like 3-4 hours of Spongebob. I mean, really? What happened to there being a a different show every half hour? I'm shocked CN and Nick aren't completely out of business yet (though from what I understand they aren't far off).

Well I certainly blame them for starting the random/stupid trend. As for the trying to hard (being too obvous) to be funny, that's a different problem all together.

This pretty much and I'm amused that every time starts one of these topics I just know they're going to mention a lot of really awful '90s cartoons and that the same complaints they're making against the modern cartoons are the same complaints that those that grew up in the '80s made against their favorite cartoons.

It's important to realize that even if it's crap you can still love it to death. I mean, I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE Speed Racer to death and back but I would never tell somebody that it was good -- because it's not.

I'm old enough that I grew up with 80s cartoons also and that case simply isn't so. Most comedic shows in the 90s were even better than the 80s. And again it has nothing to do with nestalgia. It's the shows. Back in the mid/late '00s, there were two cartoons that I loved as they had the same humor of the ****cs. My Gym Partners a Monkey and Camp Lazo both kicked ass, IMO. Sadly both are no longer aired but they are "newer" shows and I thought they were great. Nostalgia has little to do with today's shows crappage.

I totally agree. Nick and Disney have a lot of shows about real people rather than cartoons. I miss Courage the Cowardly Dog and a few other shows. I think the content of today's show are different. There aren't any cartoons that I feel adults could be entertained (Courage the Cowardly Dog) We now have Total Drama Island and other plain shows. :(
