Why would God, assuming it exists, create us and give us purpose? Is its existence not self-sufficient?

I don't believe anything about the afterlife as of right now, and that really freaks me out. I'm more afraid of life after death than the actual act of dying.t3hrubikscube

yes, let's all focus our lives on making this world heaven for others, and when the time comes and we die, then at least we know we've lived good lives. that would give me a truly peaceful death, knowing that i had helped make the world a better place for others, and i would know that i would be afforded a peaceful afterlife. and if i ceased to exist and nothigness surrounds me, than at least i died peacefully, having done my best.

Reincarnation..... but no one knows for sure, this just makes sense to me

A belief that I "play" with right now, is that after death, our intelectuality (our conscious soul if you like it) is preserved in a supernatural realm and still "lives" and functions feeded by memories of the life we had.

Although I do not exclude the possibility that after death in the above theory we might still have some connection to the physical realm, maybe to our loved ones or our offsprings or something like that

Yes I think that's most rational to believe. In as much as there's no evidence that any part of human consciousness or experience remains after the death of the brain, I'd say the answer to that question is "nothing." But if THIS is all there is that's just sad. I think the thought of us being simply decomposing matter is REALLY boring.

I have the universal human hope that there is an afterlife, but a lot of times I believe all there is to do after dying is decompose. And who said life has to have a point to it?
