Scientific tests have shown that a week of 6 or less hours sleep a night can lead to the same effect on the brain as 8 beers.

So to get drunk on the cheap I just watch TV all night...

Hallucinations, lack of judgement. Y'know the amazing thing is that BUD/s trainees (prospective Navy SEALs) go an entire week constantly doing exercises, running, push-ups, with 3-4 hours given throughout the entire week (known as hellweek). It's difficult to believe that's possible.

Yep, the giggles are a common thing... especially when you have to go to work or an early class. And my appetite confuses me, it's like I don't know if I'm hungry or if I'm full...

Well if you are deprived for long enough than you eventually go mad, even die. You can actually die quicker from lack of sleep than lack of water.

At guantanamo Bay they torture people by letting them sleep and waking them up ever 45 minutes or so. That way they can't get inot REM sleep and the sleep doesn't provide them with any rest relaxation. Pretty inhumane sh!t

As I get more sleep-deprived, I get progressively more irritable, my sense of humor fades, and I get much more snappy. Oddly enough, I also seem to get thirsty when I'm tired; I'm not sure why.

Read a little on the torture segment

The study mentioned is called the flower pot study. Basically, a mouse was put in a pot. It was full of water, and there was a little buoy in the center. The mouse could swim for a bit, but he needed to sleep after a while, so he would have to climp to the buoy. When he held on to it he would relax his muscles and fall asleep. When he fell aslpee though he fell of the buoy and started to drown, waking him up. Eventually, after not being able to swim any longer, it would just drown and die.

If you mean by "normal" sleep deprived, more often than not, I am my most silliest, to where almost everything, to me, is amusing or funny.

Beyond that, at times, I also will be unusually hungry, to the point where even after I eat meal, my satisfaction (or lack thereof), goes away lot quicker than it normally would.

For me, I just keep working, it's hard not to in my state of mind right now. I've been writing and cooking almost around the clock for 4 and a half days now, I may have dozed off in my car earlier today but I don't remember.

you can't die from lack of sleep. there is a point where you body will put you to slee, your brain will slow your heart and breathing enough that you HAVE to go to sleep, and nothing can wake you up or keep you awake. Its the bodies own defense system. I saw that on discovery channel once!

When my twins were born they only slept about 2 hours or so at a time and it took 45 minutes to feed each on, so someone essentially had to be up to feed them 24/7. I'd stay up all night, watching DVD's and feeding the babies, start work at 7 and work til I crashed around 4 and get up again anywhere from 6-8 at night and do it all over again. After 2 months I had lost a lot of weight, could barely do my job or carry on an intelligent conversation. Thank god they got the hang of sleeping longer around 3-4 months old. It broke my body down and made me stupid.

There you go. And that person was able to stay awake because he had been TRAINING to do so for a very long time, much like what David Blaine is doing. Would you like to prove ME wrong now instead of providing one example without any sources whatsoever?

But that means the mouse died from drowning not lack of sleep, it was just made tired from the lack of sleep, so unless you happen to go to bed in a roomfull of water then your fine. (that also explains the reason for not being allowed to rest when you're in the water on Morrowind)

And yes, I know there are other reasons really for not letting you sleep in water on Morrowind :)

The first thing that happens is I get very giddy and everything is really funny. After that my stomach will start to hurt and pretty much my body gives me a count down to when it will fall asleep. It don't matter if I'm ready for sleep or not. For this reason, I try everything to not get in that situation.

If I'm at home, I just lay down and accomplish nothing. I usually click randomly around the internet or watch a movie. If I'm forced to be active, like at work, I'm similar to you. I giggle a lot, move slower and find it impossible to lift anything heavy. >.>
