I am 5"8 and I don't mind it.
I'd say 5"6 or under is short as well.

I'm 5''9, but not even 18 yet, so I hope I can hit 5''10 or ''11. You guys think that's realistic?
As for short, I think anything under 5''6 is definitely in the short range.
Are you a late bloomer? If yes then yes you probably could grow some more. Could grow till age 21-22. Most importantly are people in your family tall? What ethnicity?
@blutfahne: My ethnicity is Greek. My family really varies in height. Maternal grand-father is short while grand-mother is tall. My looks and and physique are copy-paste from my dad's side though. I've already reached my dad's height at 5" 9, but my paternal grand-father was something like 6" 0. My pediatrician said when I was young I would be tall, but my genes come from all over, so I'm not sure.
Depends where you live. I'm 5'9ish, and when I lived in rural Georgia, I was about average height. Maybe just slightly below. When I moved to metro Atlanta, I became very short. Average guy in my area is about 6'1. A lot of the women are about as tall as me. When I visit family in Portugal (I was there last summer for a couple months), I'm about average again. I think most Americans would consider below 5'10 to be short, but again, where I currently live below 6'0 is definitely short.
@genius2365: Usually not a good sign when the women are taller than the men haha. Like others say though it doesn't matter too much. Just hope you don't want to be an astronaut or something because they do have height restrictions.
jk haha
Oh I actually meant that the women's family's are generally tall. My maternal grand-mother isn't taller than my maternal grand-father, but my grand-father's the tallest of his siblings at 5''6 while my grand-mother's brothers were all tall. My maternal uncle ended up being 6''0 for example.
Anyways, it doesn't bother me. I'm actually right on average for Canada/Greece at the moment, so I might yet beat :)
Back on topic, I checked the wikipedia for average male height (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Average_height_around_the_world), and I did an average of the tallest region (Dinaric Alps) minus the shortest region (Indonesia) divided by 2.
I got 171.8 cm, which is roughly equivalent to 5''7. Obviously I didn't take into account population size and many other factors, but I was slightly surprised by the low number. Maybe due to the general poverty in the world that leads to malnutrition and bad growth. Anyways, I guess all the people at 5''7 are safe, even if by our ''developed world'' standards it starts getting close to short.
I'd say anything under 1.70 m is short
Then again I'm amazed that some places have higher average height but consdering a 6'1 person short is...well wrong
Chris Evans is 6'1 he seems pretty tall to me
I'd say anything under 5'8" (172cm) and shorter in the US. I'm a shade over 6'0" (183cm)
Depends where you live. Here in the USA I think anything under 5'9" is short for a younger person (anyone younger than 40) and anything under 5'8 is short for an older person (or someone 40 or older) since older people tend to be a bit shorter on average.
The Netherlands, but I made a mistake I'm 6'1"
I'm not short, but I'm not tall either, there are a lot of guys here who are taller than me.
I'm in the Netherlands too, originally from Portugal where the average male is around 1,70 or so (I'm 1,82). Started playing basketball here last week and while I'm not the shortest guy there I measure up to some of the other guys' armpit =P
@blutfahne: True. Genetics do play a big factor, as well as the environment we grow up in, weather we eat healthy, exercise, etc.
I'm 6'2" and I'm just average height in my country. I'm the shortest of the males in my family.
Same here I am 6'2" and most family members are taller. Even my little brother lol he is 6'6". I still kick they ass's though hahaha.
6'2" is the perfect athletic height. At 6'2" 200lbs of solid muscle you will be fast enough to destroy smaller guys and strong enough to compete with bigger guys. Assuming you were born with athletic talent which obviously the majority do not have. Your hand eye coordination will be perfect because of your limb length to body height ratio. Once you get taller than 6'2" you lose coordination which is basically the ability to control your limbs. The longer you get the more awkward you get. Pretty much every sport or record is controlled by 6'1"- 6'2" from golf, tennis, baseball, quarterback and even arm-wrestling. List could go on forever. Probably chess and science stuff too.
Short is in the mind of the beholder. I've seen 5'6 guys get the most attractive women by being so obnoxiously confident they are charmed. And I've seen 6'4 goofballs stutter their way through a conversation. It doesn't really matter how tall you are, even if you are 5 foot nothing there's a women out there that's 4'10. Short people live longer anyways so embrace it.
I've heard some people say that they think anything under 6 feet is short for a guy.
What do you think?
****.
@whipassmt: Funny you mentioned him. John Rhys-Davies (the guy who plays Gimli) is actually 6' 1", which makes him taller than a lot of the other actors in the movie. But yeah, I know you were referring to the character, not the actor =P
I did not know that. Figures a tall guy would play a dwarf.
under 5'9"
honestly this.
5'9'' is consider ok for a guy, but since most girls these days are growing pass 5'7'' (the average woman height in the US), they are going for men higher (6'1''+)
Hahaha I just realize this was a necro-thread when I saw my banned account.
I miss my Nengo-Flow account.
I'm only like 5'4, 5'5, somewhere in there. To me, I don't think that makes me ridiculously short, but I am short.
I don't really mind being short, in fact sometimes I like it. It does bother me sometimes whenever I'm really short compared to most other guys, and even most women. But height, like someone up above said, don't mean shit.
I keep thinking of that old Randy Newman song, lol.
Wow, that retarded ass good for nothing has already locked a couple threads (one having nothing wrong in it) and hasn't done jack about a ressurected thread. Good looking out, retard.

you know you'll be banned now for using the R word.
I used to get week suspensions all the time back in the day (2008-2010) for saying something of someone was retarded.
I think I might be 5'9 or somewhere around there. When I'm out in public, most guys are taller than me. A lot of women are my height or taller. It sucks.
If you're 5'7 or below, you've got a problem. I always believed 6'1 was an ideal height, considering I'm South Asian and hardly anybody in my family touches 6'0. I'm 18 and slightly above 6'1 but I'm not as happy as I should be. Feel like an ungrateful prick.
My feet have fallen arches, which probably led to pronation. I am also pledged with large bunions. I can take these shoes out of the box and start hiking with no worries. They really are the only shoes I have in my house. From the slippers through the sandles, to the sneakers and finishing with the leather boot. Also, Orthofeet stands behind their product 100%.
