Than we'll be called racists by Europe probably.
If Obama loses, I can feel safe when I sleep in my bed at night.
You mean like they've already "won" with eight years of Republicans? It seems only the "upper class" thinks this way. Take a walk down any American street not inside a fenced community. Things in America are just great. :roll:Bigboi500
/There is more to running a country and running it well than promising lofty and "progressive" goals that will only hurt things in the long run. As of right now, the "lesser of two evils" for the American people is McCain. His economic plans are far less harmful than Obama and his stupid idea for creating a universal health care system, which will cause a doctor shortage..foxhound_foxThey are still undeniably harmful. I'm not going to sit here and pretend Obama is any better, but McCain's economic plans would only serve to instigate the current problem. We need Ron Paul back on the ticket. I demand Bretton Woods and a gold standard to increase the stability of the US dollar.

The "rich" create the most jobs in the U.S. And by the "rich" we don't mean just indviduals, we mean companies. The more companies and corporations are taxed, the higher the prices. This hurts EVERYONE. Everytime you pay for a good/service, a huge percentage of it goes to the government. Coroporations and businesses don't pay taxes really, WEdo. This means higher prices and less jobs. Why this is just a difficult concept to understand, I have no idea.
Also, the top 10% pay 70 % of the nations taxes (with the Bush tax cuts). The bottom 48% get more money BACK from the government than they pay in taxes. Let's not forget that the top 1% account for 25% of the nations spending. The rich already have trillions of dollars in tax shelters because of the idiotic income tax. Get rid of the income tax and replace it with the Fair Tax. It's the best option for EVERYONE.
Raising taxes in a time like this is the LAST thing you want to do. Not to mention starting new programs like universal healthcare and other idiotic programs. We CANNOT afford this. We are going to spend ourselves into oblivion. Unfortunatly, McCain is going to spend too, but just as not as much as Obama (hopefully). Obama is the much greater evil here though. I wish Ron Paul didn't drop out,.

That's not how the world works. It sounds good on paper, but in practice it fails. The free market does almost everything better and at a cheaper price.

Public schools are a joke. I attended a public school, and it was pathetic. Private schools are better, and provide a better education most of the time. Most of private schools curriculum is a joke? Then what are public schools curriculum? Just about every single elective and a lot of academic classes are a joke. And I went to what was considered one of the "best" public schools in the state (Michigan). But it still couldn't hold a candle to private schools like Cranbrook.
Let's face it, the public education system in the U.S. is a joke. We spend more per student than almost every other country but our results are pathetic in comparison. Why? Because we have a socialized public education system. The answer? Vouchers. Make schools compete. Give students and parents a choice. Get rid of this pathetic government monpoly.

It is because of the exact same ideologies of the people who proposed the lack of government oversight of the economy. No Child Left Behind is the largest instigator in our failing public school system we've ever had. It has forced teachers to teach to a standard, fail to teach the basics, and has bumped America to seventh or eigth in science and mathmatics.
Come back when you have an actual arguement, ok?
trix5817
Hows this
Rich people dont get screwed by the system. It's the poor who are suffering in this and every country, so dont even play the "rich people are victims" card. If you make 5 million a year, you are beyond rich. It disgusts me how, when there is so much unjustice in the world, it has to come back to the mighty dollar. What about the ability to walk outside not fearing for your life? What about better education in urban areas? what about a hell of a lot of things that dont effect rich people every day. everyone has rights, its not about how much cash you have in your savings: everyone is a human being.

Public schools haven't just recently became a joke. They've been terrible before the No Child Left Behind Act was implemented. Sorry, I don't want a government monopoly over education. Vouchers are the answer.

Vouchers are the answer. trix5817Vouchers de fact promote an excessive entanglement between the government and religion to some degree. While Souter may disagree with me, the supplying of vouchers to a market space dominated by private religious schools, of which 96% of all students who receive vouchers go to, which has occured in the vacuum created by the No Child Left Behind Act (Which I did a term paper on last semester), leads current GOP and conservative economic policies to create a horrible education environment.

The only reason religion isn't allowed into public schools is because it's controlled by the government. It's unconsitutional. But by attatching the money to the student, it is not unconstitutional. Saying that all schools will turn into crazy religious institutions is ridiculous. Most people aren't religious crazies. They want a good education first and foremost. Vouchers will be given to every student. Schools will have to compete. Competition makes things better. This has been done in many countries in Europe and it works.

I don't think you are getting the point of vouchers. Everyone isn't going to rush to private schools. It's going to make already public schools compete, kind of making them private. Giving everyone vouchers isn't creating a totally free market at all. The government is still paying for everyone's education. Vouchers really are the only answer. We've tried puting more money into public education for the past 30 years (adjusting for inflation) and it's gotten us nowhere.

How about just raising the salaries for teachers. That would make the jobs more competitive, as more people would want to have them...then you end up with better quality. If he wins I'm seriously moving.
