What defines a "hardcore" gamer? What defines a "casual" gamer?

And which one are you?

This is for discussion, I'd like to see some people's opinions on this.

If I were to cut you , if you lose hp , then you are hardcore. If not then you are not. Anyway , this hardcore and casual thing I tend to ignore. I just play games and do not define myself as any type of gamer. And this will be locked , sadly.

It's really what you play and how much you play it that defines which one you are. I'm personally a casual gamer.

A hardcore gamers is someone who gets up and thinks about playing games, and when they can fit in everything else during their day. A casual gamer just plays when they have spare time, or when friends are round.

I think hardcore means playing more than 2 hours a day and casual is just playing a little bit in free time. I am casual, I've played video games about 30 minutes this whole week

I'm a hardcore gamer because I pour myself a bowl of thumbtacks and sulfuric acid and eat it like cereal as I play Poke'mon. I think a hardcore gamer is someone who can admit to having the gamer lifestyle.

I doubt I'm hardcore, but I do play a lot of different games. Mostly strategy or FPS's... Does that make me somewhat hardcore, if I use nothing but the survival knife in MGS3:Snake Eater, or just a very very bad shooter ?

Honestly its hard to even define a gamer anymore..less then 5 years ago if you played xbox or any video games at that you were considered a nerd and given the dreadful tag of "gamer" now if you do have xbox live(i use that b/c thats what most people play at my school) it is wayyy easier to connect with people and its actually pretty "cool" to play video games

I got 27 and gave up after 6 minutes. It turns out that there were 7 others that I knew, but couldn't think of. Some of those were crap, though. They can kiss my ass if they think that the Atari Flashback was a console.

A casual gamer is someone who just plays games for fun, but does not sit and read every single review before they get it. That is how I define casual gamer.
