Last week my class got back our midterms and I was happy to receive an A. I would have been content with a B. Several people in my groups got Cs and they were glad they passed. So my question is, what grade do you shoot for in school? What grade are you satisfied with? Do you think you could do better if you tried harder?

Shoot for an A, usually get a B and am satisfied. I'm alright with a C. D and F is kind of a failure

Passing. Unless I know I did exceptionally well and deserve an extremely high grade and don't get it.

I've never got less than a B. I will never get less than a B. If I get less then a B, then I give it the evil eye until it turns into a B.

Depending on the difficulty of the class I try to go no lower than B+, but if it is a difficult class I can be content with B- and would prefer not to get a C+

Although I must admit college is a waste of time...unless of course a piece of paper and boatload of debt seems important to you...

wish someone would have told me this, a year ago, but a C is alright with me, but i always strive for those a's and b's

In high school, I was usually satisfied with a 60%. 80 or higher was almost unobtainable.

Ideally, As and A-s. I'm okay with a few Bs and B+s though.

Well I aim for A's, since B's make you "average" in my household  :P

I don't cry if I get lower than that though. Especially if I didn't study.....

Generally, as long as I passed, I was happy. I almost always got As and Bs though anyway.

Anything above 85% is great. Anything +80% is good. Anything +75% is passable. After this I stop caring.

Used to only shoot for the stars and was dissatisfied with anything below an A, now I'll just aim for a passing grade.

Depends on the class really, usually I'm happy with at least a B-, but I've had a few classes in the past few years in which I was satisfied to receive a C-, as was everyone else in those classes

I was incredibly pissed when I learnt I only came second in biology and third in advanced English. Don't even start me on the fact I came thirty-sixth in maths.

low 60s...Those are the marks that kill your GPA...I hate 60s, I hate them with a passion. I remember a semester in my 3rd year in college when I got two 60% marks amd GPA loled at me literally.

Always tried for As, but was happy with Bs. I was disappointed with Cs, but was just happy that I passed. Ds sucked and the few Fs I got I feared for my life because my parents were pissed.

Australia, but I'm pretty sure the ranking system only applies to high school seniors.

I just do what I can. I dont stress out over school. Itsnot worth it. I get a mix of a's and b's, with some C's on occasion. Like this semester is going as follows:

Aural Skills: A

Music Theory: A

Keyboarding: A-

College Writing: B

European art Music: C

Studio Voice: B

Choir Ensemble: B+

and Im totally content. I really dont care as long as I get to stay in the music program.

A's in undergrad. Graduate school GPA doesn't matter as much, so I try more to get a B since the classes are a lot harder.

haha ya I know what you mean, it's also funny how in HS I had 90's in Chem 30 (12) and Math 31 (calculus) but now those are my two worst courses. (don't even ask what I'm getting) I have 80 in computing science and I have never even heard of code before the semester lol

It honestly depends on what class it is. For example, natural sciences don't come easy to me, so I'd be happy with a C in astronomy. However, I wouldn't settle for any less than an A in my speech class.

Depends on the course. For the core courses I took in college, like the physics and calculus sequences, anything less than an A is a failure to me. That material is far too easy to not get an A. For the harder engineering courses I've taken (like say, "Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics of Turbomachinery"), a B isn't so bad.

They limit the amount of students that get 80+ anyways, as if it wasn't hard enough already.

You think Calculus is too easy? I feel like a dumbass on these forums haha. My math career ended with algebra 2 (and I thought that was hard!!!) and statistics. I'm never taking trigonometry or calculus in my college career.
