Most individuals I have conversed with about governments tend to think of it as an abstraction unconnected to reality. "Government," "regulation," "soldiers," "police." All of these are examples of concepts that are abstract; they are not tangible. There is nothing in existence called the government. Every characteristic of the government: from its foundational structure to its empirical effects are all artificial; certain human beings are not born with these characteristics. The definition of a government is a collection of individuals, within a certain geographical area, with the claimed moral and legitimate use of force; justified through the social contract. The definition of the social contract is an implicit agreement among people that results in the organization of society; individual surrenders liberty in return for protection. (Ie: You do not sign this social contract to signify agreement, you agree to this contract simply from being born in a geographical area under a government). Now let's look at how a government is formed. A government declares property its own by eminent domain or decree. In reality, a group of individuals can legitimately lift their index fingers, accomplish one revolution with their wrists, say "mine," and essentially they now have legitimate property. This is essentially a violation of property rights. Unclaimed land requires you to homestead, with tools of your own, in order for you to own that property. Claimed land requires a voluntary transfer of ownership via contract between two parties. Can other individuals claim land as their own by default? If they can, would this be a good layout for a moral society? Now let's look at what a government does when it is formed. Since the government does not function as a business; sellings goods or services to individuals willing to voluntarily purchase said goods or services, it needs to attain revenue. What better way than taxation? Again, if applied consistantly to all individuals, would it be moral if everyone could essentially steal from one another legitimately? - Gov't murderers: Men in green suits attain pensions and trinkets for the slaughter of other men and destruction of infrastructure. Similarly, men in orange suits will attain a one-way ticket to a rape room or a casket: their choice. Whether you agree or disagree, please provide any comments, questions, and/or criticisms. :) TLDR: Governments are agencies that violate property rights and contracts; and commit theft; by default.
