Which one do you think is more likely to happen; zombie invasion or alien invasion?
Which one would it be easier for humans to defend against?

I agree with both previous responses. The alien invasion is more likely. The zombie invasion would be easier to fight back against. I mean, 40% of american households supposedly have guns, so 40% of american households could take out a few zombies each.
The aliens could just irradicate us from space without ever giving us a chance to even see it coming.
aliens seem way more likely.
also what kind of zombies are they? the ones that come back from the dead, or the ones that are changed from some kind of parasite or virus? cause the dead ones sound easier. the other ones could be harder.
most likely alien invasion, but the zombie invasion would be the easiest to defend against2ndWonder
Agreed, and we would be crushed, imagine if humanity fought agaist it self 50 years ago?
wow I can't believe more people think aliens coming to earth (hostile aliens at that) is more likely than zombies.
I'll break down the conditions that each situation requires.
First for zombies since it's shorter:
All you really need for zombies is a mind altering chemical/bacteria/virus/parasite (video1 , video2 , video3 )
These are some vids on how paracites infect the minds of some so it's not unreasonable that modern science could accidently create something that would have a similar result.
Aliens - first you would need a planet that lifeforms can be created on. This is quite rare and probably at my best guess there would be a maximum of 1000 or so planets where life could be created. Next life actually has to be created on this planet, but since we don't really know much about how life actually gets started I'm just going to assume most planets that can sustain life create life (it could be a million to one shot or it could be a common occurance both have good arguments). Next we need an evolutionary path that breeds intellegent beings which my guess wouldn't be that common (in the lower 5%). Humans took almost 3 billion years to evolve and we'd have to assume aliens are at a post human phase. So for at least 3 billion years this planet would have to sustain life. Then this post-human lifeform would need to master some sort of speed of light space travel to get to earth, or have some sort of floating space colony. Then they'd need to actually find earth and become hostile towards humans some how.
Honestly alien invasion is a giant step in odds and logic.

Genius, I agree completely. Science could easily create something it didn't intend to, or did intend to but that went wrong. Aliens... While they may exist, even if they did find Earth, why would they be hostile towards an inferior species? On a different planet?
Can you imagine we found life on Mars? Yes, the aliens would take a few of us along with some other animals and plants and take us back to their planet where they would disect us. Then, they'd put some cameras on Earth and watch our hilarious antics on Alien TV, then they'd set up a McZonalds on every continent.
