I have not listened to much new music this year so I don't feel qualified to give an opinionNifty_SharkTo be honest, i don't blame you.
Kaiser Chiefs - Off With Their Heads Portishead - Third Santogold - SantogoldjachichorroI heard Santogold is good, never heard of any of her songs though, gotta give it a try.
I'd say that title definitely goes to the new Sigur Ros album.
And I don't think this year has been that bad, there were new albums by lots of my favorite artists.
There is no best. There is such diverse music taste that to say one is best is a disservice. For instance, to use your example Portishead (which I like but since you mentioned them I will use them) excites you because you enjoy their style, genre, type of music. To someone that likes different styles etc or merely doesn't like Portishead this would not be the case. And in the genre they like...they could select a talented an album but an equally talented band that speaks to them as Portishead does to you. In short...enjoy what you love but don't worry about best or awards or lists. It's all good.....(to someone).LJS9502_basic"what do YOU think is the best album" im asking for peoples opinion not a universal answer.

He has a point. Anyway, my favorite would go to 'Chinese Democracy'.

I generally just pick a song or two and then move on. May not be the best way....but meh...that's how I play my games as well.:P
[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"]Modern Guilt by Beck.jachichorroOhh that too, Gamma Ray and the title track are great. Youthless was great too. The only tracks I didn't really like were 7 and 9.

I think this year in music was probably one of the worst of all time, very bland, very generic but there were a few gems that were amazing. I think the best album of the year, however, goes to Portishead-Third. Its a huge, huge, huge, huge, breath of fresh air hearing trip-hop durring a musical time period such as this, especially when its not so underground. Not only that but the album is amazing in so many aspects, fanastic album (although has one or two songs that are just ok) What do you think is the best album of 2008?mexicangordoI think this year has definitely been vastly inferior to last year, but I don't place any blame on it for that. Last year was probably the best year for music in...well, over a decade. This year started off with a poor first half, but the second half has made up for it in a big way. It's probably equal with 2001, much better than 2002, close to 2003, 2004 handles it with ease, probably equal with 2005, it's easily beaten by 2006, and 2007 slaughters it. But hey, I guess mid-2010, I can look back on this decade much more honestly. Still, people have missed a lot from this year, and while I considered it easily the worst year this decade earlier in April, I don't think so anymore.
