What is the best album of 2008?

I have not listened to much new music this year so I don't feel qualified to give an opinionNifty_Shark

I'd say that title definitely goes to the new Sigur Ros album.

And I don't think this year has been that bad, there were new albums by lots of my favorite artists.

There is no best. There is such diverse music taste that to say one is best is a disservice. For instance, to use your example Portishead (which I like but since you mentioned them I will use them) excites you because you enjoy their style, genre, type of music. To someone that likes different styles etc or merely doesn't like Portishead this would not be the case. And in the genre they like...they could select a talented an album but an equally talented band that speaks to them as Portishead does to you. In short...enjoy what you love but don't worry about best or awards or lists. It's all good.....(to someone).LJS9502_basic

I saw him this past weekend in Chicago and got to meet him.

I think this year in music was probably one of the worst of all time, very bland, very generic but there were a few gems that were amazing. I think the best album of the year, however, goes to Portishead-Third. Its a huge, huge, huge, huge, breath of fresh air hearing trip-hop durring a musical time period such as this, especially when its not so underground. Not only that but the album is amazing in so many aspects, fanastic album (although has one or two songs that are just ok) What do you think is the best album of 2008?mexicangordo
