OK, I agree I was speeding and deserved the ticket. That being said:

Recenlty, I was driving 45mph in a 30 mph zone right down my house. I've been doing this on the one lane street for 4 years.

Funny thing, the officer passes me, does a u turn after I slow. Thinking I got away with murder, sure enough he rears his ugly head around 3 minutes later to give me a $200 ticket.

I agree I needed the ticket, but the manner in which he gave it to me made me FURIOUS. I wish he wakes up with a bunch of monkeys throwing poo on his face.

Whats urs?

There was a blatent speed trap in a neighborhood I was driving through. Got pulled over and they said I ran the stop sign...like I didn't see the flashing lights and squad cars right in front of me. They then lectured me on how dirty my car was before they ticketed me. The idiots didn't even get the street name correct and a simple letter to the judge dropped the ticket right there.

Probably jaywalking. They lambasted me with stats about casualties from people crossing the road and got all uppity when I pointed out there were absolutely no cars to be seen so it was very unlikely I was going to add to that statistic. They were big n burly with guns, so I didn't push it.

Speeding is only 1 point unless you're going so fast you get ticketed for reckless driving.

I got ticked for going 50 down a 35 mph speed zone. It was in a shopping district. The road was four laned and straight. It's hard not to go fast down it, especially since I was in the left lane.

My car had tinted front windows (driver and passenger side, not windshield) and they pulled me over, gave me a ticket of $150 and gave me a knife to start removing the tint. Not even a single warning before that. I didn't know you couldn't have tinted front windows and I bought the car used. It's a family 4 door that happens to have tint, I was wearing dress clothes because I was on my way home from work. I'm not smuggling drugs or weapons here. They just want to piss people off sometimes.

ive only gotten one ticket and the officer was technically right despite my excuses (although he did pull some super trooper **** by speeding past me to let me think i wasnt going to be pulled over and then doubling back). one of my friends got a ridiculous ticket though. he was waiting for a light in a lane marked "left turn only." the light turned green and he made the left turn. the cop gave him a ticket for not using his blinker.

Ah well normally I'm pretty good at sucking up, but this time I got a little annoyed at the absurdity of a fine for crossing a road when there wasn't a car in sight. Maybe I just had a bee in my bonnet that day...

I got ticketed once for going like 5 miles over the limit even though there were others going faster than me.

Also my friend got pulled over one time for driving a nice car.

I got nothing. Which is amazing, because I am black. I have heard many stories though. Like, my ex's little brother because his car was blue. (well, pulled over. No ticket) I guess I don't look hood enough (which is why they let him go, when they asked him what "set he claimed", he laughed and said "Dude, I am in college! Not the Crips!)

Hmm, I almost got the one your friend got. I was asked about my nice car, insinuating that I may be a drug dealer. But it was after I ran a stop sign and almost crashed into the side of him. :p (but, he interestingly let me go without so much as a warning.)

my friends have been ticketed for really stupid things around my campus. like Longboarding and not stopping at a stop sign. and also my other friend was charged for riding his bike on the "wrong" side of the road. truly ridiculous it's why i hate the law anymore because its not about keeping people safe, it's about getting as much money as they can out of you

Following to closely. But it was his fault. I was coming up on a guy and changed lanes to go around him. We were going over a hill and on the downward side at this point. Well after I changed lanes, I then notices a cop behind me, so I got back behind the guy that was in front of me, but started slowing down because of how close I was to him (But I had to get over for the cop). Well the cop made me pull over as well as the guy a few cars in front of me (the cop was actually going for the speeder, but got me too). If I didn't have to get back over for the cop, I wouldn't have been behind the car, let alone to close.

You probably had enough time to stop but didn't.

I've gotten quite a few people with that. THey act surprised, and then I have to explain that when it turns yellow, that doesn't mean you go faster to get through it.

Tearing out bricks from a wall that had been hit by a car days before and was slated for demolition. I got a visit for "destruction of property".

Destruction of destroyed property that was slated to be demolished the next day. Brilliant. I was like 13 at the time.

I could mention other run in's people I know have had with the cops. My favorite was my neighbor who was told he could not press charges against this kid who was breaking into his house because he hit the kid as the kid was breaking and entering. I was under the impression you can defend your house when someones tossing rocks through your window and screaming they're going to kill your family.

That doesn't sound right to me, I see people with tinted front windows every day, and I know somebody who drives a car with front tinted windows and has had the car for awhile. Is it a state-specific law?

100% agree. And like was said, sometimes it's safer to speed up.

This is even more applicable on my motorcycle. Lights don't detect it usually because it is too small, and so sometimes the yellow light is triggered in an awkward situation. One stop was so sudden I accidentally skid the rear wheel for a good couple seconds. Granted, my fault for overapplying, but point is, in a case like that it is far safer to just accelerate past the light.

Anyway, on topic, I haven't gotten ticketed for anything luckily. I have seen a cop here give students tickets for riding a bicycle without a helmet. I think that's kind of a dumb law, because though I will always wear one, I don't see why you don't have the freedom not to.

They were standing on the opposite corner with the sole purpose of catching unsuspecting road crossers such as me (I confess I didn't know the offence of jay walking existed here in Australia as people are allowed to cross the road willy-nilly in the UK).

I wanna know what the guy did for getting frisked for a gun? I'm pretty sure it's not ok, i may be an open carrier one day myself and i know they just want to harass people. Also the yellow light thing i don't get either, if you're halfway through you should coast? Even if you leave yourself at risk in the middle of the intersection? Will that not get you a ticket even if you make it across and your car is almost stopped? Like they say speeding up makes more sense, but don't make it obvious in case there is a cop.

I never got anything absurd, but I did have a friend I was riding with that got a 22 point ticket. He was doing over 60 something in a 40, and didn't have proof of insurance, but the judge laughed at the ticket and reduced it to like 6 points or something.

Recently here (the UK) two little girls (under 8 i believe) were cautioned for picking flowers in a public park...

Oh and "jaywalking" is the most ridiculous law i've (almost) ever heard of...

Speeding ticket for going 65 mph over the limit. I mean, are you kidding me?!Dark__Link
your lucky your in america. In canada the law is 50km/h over and the police take your car. THEY TAKE YOUR CAR, your not getting it back, regardless of whats it worth. and there is the fine on top of that.

if you ever drive across the border into Niagara falls you will see the sign right there. 50 over = $2000 fine and vehicle seizure.
