Recently here (the UK) two little girls (under 8 i believe) were cautioned for picking flowers in a public park...

Oh and "jaywalking" is the most ridiculous law i've (almost) ever heard of...

you do realize how many people die or get injured because of jaywalking each year right? Its no laughing matter. Its a serious cause of injury that costs health care money, the workplace money, and costs people's health. The police are trying to help deal with it.

So a yellow light is a red light? Why do we have it, then? Should just be green and red.

Pixel-Pirate

Yellow light DOSE NOT MEAN SPEED UP

lol

it means slow down, pass if needed, proceed with caution

If there was no yellow light there would be far more crashes in a intersection...

Again if it's treated just like a red light (stop) then why have it? Speeding up should be fine unless you're breaking the speed limit.

REALLY?!?! you still don't understand? kinda hope you dive because i can already see you be one of those intersection accidents.

In first place You should be going the speed limit in the first place so why You say "Speeding up should be fine unless you're breaking the speed limit"?

The reason this guy might got a ticket because he seen the yellow and gunned it. He gunned just like many people do So they can beat the yellow light half time the light turns red while there in the middle of the intersection

[QUOTE="Dark__Link"]Speeding ticket for going 65 mph over the limit. I mean, are you kidding me?!STAR_Admiral

your lucky your in america. In canada the law is 50km/h over and the police take your car. THEY TAKE YOUR CAR, your not getting it back, regardless of whats it worth. and there is the fine on top of that.

if you ever drive across the border into Niagara falls you will see the sign right there. 50 over = $2000 fine and vehicle seizure.

Wait what ?
They just take your car away from you ? That's insane !

Canadians have some great laws. I am not being sarcastic. I just wish in America we had a policy where going 30+ over the speed limit was the same.

i pull into my parking lot after getting tints on my windows and I noticed some cops meandering about with a bewildered look on their mugs. For some reason it dawns their minds to tell me as I exit my car to keep the door open, they want to smell my car for some reason. So i close the door and start asking questions as to why they wanted to do that and the cops explain to me that they hadalready been there for a while searching the area for the source of a skunk like smell they perceived to be marijuana.

All I asked was "Why would you think the smell would come from my car when you two just saw me pull up into the parking lot?".
One of em says " Are you going to let me smell your car or are you going to make the situation worse for yourself?"

I had no idea the situation was bad for me to begin with, so *sigh* might as well let this bonehead have his way and smell my car.

I'm "let go" as he put it and i go inside my apt to get some directions and other info from online. No less then 10 minutes later i take off and notice the cops are in their squad cars side by side chatting and the one guy who got in my face starts to move b ehind me and pulled me over no less then 5 seconds after i got into the main street. lol

So he pulls me over and tells me that I can't have all my windows tinted. Illinois vehicle law stipulates that only the rear windshield & rear passenger windows can be tinted, not the front windows. So I ask him as he's handing me my I-Bond slip and court date why it was that he couldn't warn me about my windows when he was smelling my car. All he said was "Have a good day." and walked away with somewhat of a smirk.

...

Few days before court I see that one character again in the parking lot and he got my attention and directed me towards his car. He lowers his windows and I ask "What's up!? you want to smell my car again?". He asks, "Are you cool?". I asked him what he meant and he repeats "ARE YOU COOL!?". "Oh!, um Yea, sure." I reply. He begins to tell me that when I go to court, to just tell the judge I removed the tints and I wont get charged and he took off.

You know, and I'm over here thinking to myself, "wow! what a great guy. wish there were more cops like him". Then I begin to think about it,... well then if he's telling me to lie to the judge and that'd he'd go along with it, then why in the hell did he give me a citation to begin with!!! Because I gave him a little trouble in smelling my car.

Cops and their egos ... ARGH !!!

He gave me a speeding ticket! I was only going like 85 in a 55 zone. Ugh! EDIT - It also cost me about $100. I was quite sad.

TC i wonder why if you were so close to your house you didnt pull into your driveway before he could ticket you. i mean once your in your driveway your home free. they cant do crap without a warrant and i highly doubt speeding is enough probable cause to break down your door. hell thats what i did once. dumb cop started following me. me knowing the roads in my neighborhood like the back of my hand. knew exactly when i could go 40 and be out of eye shot.(speed limit 25) and slow back down to 25 really fast when he got in potential view. also going down those turns in my neighborhood like i usually do at 40 doing it at 25 was a breeze lol. dumb cop got lost. pulled in driveway watched him driveby shining his flashlight. serves the cop right for following me just cause i made a turn on a completely empty road and didnt stay perfectly in my lane. road was completely empty never mind the fact its a very wide road.
