Valentine's Day isn't a holiday. It is a commercial day. Nothing about the original meanings of the day are really withheld to modern times. I highly doubt most people know who the St. Valentin's were.

And Christmas is easily the most commercialised holiday... EASILY. Pretty much gone is all the religious and festival underpinnings and here to stay is all the gift buying and rushing. Whether people intended it or not, they get completely caught up in the commercialised meaning of Christmas and most people who "celebrate" it don't for either the Christian or pagan values it has once held.

I guess that the TC's knowledge of its origin has something to do with the birth of the Christian messiah?

I would assume. Either way, most people dont celebrate it as a religous holiday, and those that do, celebrate it as the J mans B-day.

Christmas. Lots of people neglect the religious aspect of it, and just celebrate it for the gifts. Howver, I'm guilty of that as well. :P

Chrismas. First of all Jesus wasn't even born on Christmas, and it was a non issue until the industrial revolution when Americans had disposable income to buy thier kids toys.

Christmas by far, most retails would even go as far as to put up Christmas decorations in November to get people to buy their girfs.

Valentine's Day. There's absolutely no basis for the "holiday" besides the decision to promote it by various industries. Hell, St. Valentine was clubbed and beheaded, meaning he has as much to do with the commercialized concept of "love" as bunnies have to do with Easter.
