Well in grade 8, we had this piece of paper, where everyone would leave comments and their autograph for memories (since many of us were going to different high schools). And on my paper, everyone wrote, "You're good at math"cheetah_TMThat is pretty sad...

And on my paper, everyone wrote, "You're good at math"cheetah_TMThat must've been a blow. Sorry. The worst I had was moving away from my friends. Three times. It'd be terrible; making new friends then having to leave and repeating the process.
I spent $8 on a burrito that I took one bite out of and dropped while walking in the streets =(AndrewXXXXXXI would cry, too. But also i would eat everypart not touching the ground. Saddest was the death of my dog. She was my closest relative and best friend. Still cry a bit when thinking about it.
Probly posted this before but...
When I was 19, a friend and I were following my ex girlfriend to a restaurant, and we watched her get hit head on and killed by a drunk driver.
Don't drink and drive...seriously.
at lease your brave enough to go afterone.....i cant...i can do anything but that...very sadWell.. So far i've been rejected or ignored by any girl i've ever been interested in or had a crush on. That's pretty sad.
Other than that, when it comes to sadness, thing's have been rather uneventful in my life so far. No death's as of yet.

I'm what people would generally refer to as emo...which really sucks, cause it makes me look really bad. I adopted the characteristics currently referred to as "emo" years ago, and now all these pre teen posers have stolen it for themselves just to be fashionable...bastards...
But for the short answer, yes, I am.
Call me stupid, but I'm curious...
What do people view emos as nowadays? I know that emo means "emotional", but what other traits do people think they have?

I think Emo is more than emotional. Most people are emotional now days. I think it's more connected with Pessimistic, over dramatic, stuff like that.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. What people call "emo" is actually what should be called "scene". It basically is what Tolwan said. Dramatic, pessimistic...whiny. I can't say that I know what real emo is, though.

Goth's aren't pessimistic.Emos.......they bug the crap outta me now..i mean i cant tell which are emos or emo wannabe. Arent emos suppose to be depressed (not trying to be sterotypical) , sad, ect. Today 13 yrs and a little older dress emo..but never act emo...they always acting like a happy little girl and doesnt look like they have any problem at all. Dont know what they are trying to prove1337_ownageUgh, its those little bastards that make me look like an idiot...they're just posers, of course they've got no real problems, its just the "in" thing right now...
The problem I see with emo kids is that most of them have NEVER been through anything traumatic other than "people don't understand me" or "life sucks I hate school blah blah". Life starts to suck when people you love either die or disappear from your life forever. And if stuff like that HAS happened to you, being all emo about it and getting into the lifestyle and fashions won't make it better. mynameisjosh657
You're right about most emo kids around, but losing people close to you isn't the only way life would get terrible (though it really does intensify it exponentially).

to me emo is someone who seems depressed and prefers rock music (or something like it), who usually prefers the color blackEmo is basically Goth-lite. It involves listening to underground emo/punk bands, dressing up in dark colors, usually growing your hair out (if you're a guy), being extremely moody and somewhat self-destructive. It also involves some bisexual behavior. That's pretty much the stereotype, but I don't think anybody really KNOWS what emo is. Same thing as preppy, you can't pinpoint what it is but you know it when you see it.

The bisexual behavior part was just plain wrong...I don't know whereyou  pulled that from...and I don't see it having any relation to goth either...but other than that, you nailed the description of a stereotypical emo kid.

I guess I'm a bit prejudiced towards "emo" behavior because of people I know who have gone through terrible things and are still normal people. One person I talk to, she's one of the nicest, smartest, most upbeat people to talk to. She's been kicked out of her family, lost her best friends and she almost died of mono. Compare that to your average emo kid.

I read the bisexual part somewhere, I know that in the more extreme "emo" circles it's popular. It's one of the stereotypes of emo guys, that they are secretly bisexual or gay in some way. Not saying that they are, I was just trying to nail the stereotype based on society's perceptions of "emo".

That's understandable...it isn't something I intended to critisize you over though...so sorry if I did somewhere. But this person sounds pretty resilliant...that's impressive she can still keep positive...
