What exactly are the qualifications for being the BEST guitar player that you guys are judging him on? I'm pretty sure that once you're at the top level, you can play pretty much anything else that anyone else can play, so are you guys basing it off creativity or good song writing or what?
first time ive hear him and hes not bad at all.. but then again I dont keep myself busy with this "who's the best guitarist" nonsense.
I absolutely adore great guitar play so I love them all but some of my fave bands are not known for their superior guitar play. (though its not bad in any regard)
[QUOTE="icarus212001"]Jimmy Page is still the best. Skill beats speed ANY DAY!Eragon_11Uhhh, no. Im not even going to point out a gaping hole in that.
you guys have a narrow music taste go listen to some real tech metalIf you hate saying it, then why are you?
(I hate to say it but, ) Dragonforce

Alex who? :?[QUOTE="Erasorn"][QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"]alexi laiho puts him to shame. he's the reason buckethead hides his face :P LoG-Sacrament
stop your blaspheming!
 CoB owns you're right. In my mind I couldn't really compare the two, they're too different.
Ok, let's try and put this thread to rest. Is Buckethead the best guitarist out today, probably not. Is he talented, of course. There's a difference between not liking him, and saying he isn't talented. I'll admit, I've only heard a handful of songs, and I'm not a fan of his work. That doesn't mean I don't think he's talented, I just don't like his music. Second, why compare him to other guitarists? He has his own unique sound. There is no point in debating whether or not Dimebag or Hammet, or Mustaine,or Vaughan,or Clapton,or Hendrix or whoever is better than Buckethead. All of those guitarists have their own distinct sound and style. Saying that one of those guitarists isn't talented is just plain ignorant. Each guitarist I've listed, plus thousands of others are all talented. You may not like there style or music, but they are talented. This thread is just getting ridiculous. Like always, the debating has turned into an argument where both users believe they're right. Why not move on?metallica_fan42Cuz it's fun to yell at each other. :D
[QUOTE="A_Tarkovsky"][QUOTE="Cerussite"]Buckethead sucks. So do Kirk Hammett and Dimebag Darrell. CerussiteYou don't like much, do you?I just dislike a lot of the things you guys seems to like so much.Mind telling us why all three of those guitarists suck?
 Here we go again. I swear, most of you say things like this so that you can start some huge argument.lol @ Kirk being good.
LOLOL POWER CHORDS LOLL I PLAY GUD

But since you asked me...
Well, generally, as is the problem with many metal guitarists, they get off thinking that playing fast and technically well makes them better. But, you see, it doesn't. When they play, they feel sterile. There's just no soul in what they play. I've also felt that much of what they play always sounds the same.
I think your answer is right there TCThe man is the most technically gifted guitarist around today, end of story. If he could write like Dimebag then he would absolutely blow them out of the water. He is also cool because of how different his music is and how he can play different styles of music. I do believe the bucket thing is a way to keep him known for his music rather than his appearance. Either way the whole Buckethead persona is quite fun.
He has quite a bit of stuff thats great and trust me, he doesn't always have the souless techno thing going. In fact if you actually look into his work you'll find that he has quite a bit of stuff that is really soulful. You got to check out stuff like Soothsayer and Whitewash.

You narrow minded dumb****. Buckethead has done loads of great ambient stuff that is packed with "fertility". Also, who the hell are you to judge what is and what isnt soulful.Soulja boy>>>Page, hendrix, slash, buckethead, dimebag
