Don't ever go by your BMI. It's a damn joke. It put's me as obese which I'm clearly not. It was never meant to be used how our healthcare system uses it.

I know man. But we can go by fat percantage instead. I had 20% last time I checked but now I am 4kg less. But it's much harder to find out for people.

Oh it's certainly not a great indicator of someones health but in terms of a 'healthish shape look' it is ok. Mines 23.5 last time I checked.

"Grossly obese" despite being only moderately chubby. It doesn't account for muscle mass, and was invented by a scrawny man in the 19th century. For all we know, he could be responsible for the trend towards unattractive thinness that exists today.

My BMI is 20.1, but I don't pay attention to it since it's not a very accurate way to measure how "in shape" a person is.

Fat calipers are the most accurate, as they only measure the fat on your body. The online BMI's do not account for muscle weight, therefore they are highly inaccurate. However, I wouldn't say that fat calipers are 100% accurate either, as someone could have a lot of visceral fat, and not a lot of subcutaneous fat. I would say that that is rare though..

Last time I checked it was around 22. btw 18.5-24.9 is considered 'Healthy', >18.5 underweight >24.9 overweight. But as Wasdie said, these figures are NOT reliable.

23.5, not bad, it does fall into 'normal weight' but too much of that is body fat, and it used to be less than 20. I need to work myself back into shape.

If I had a 17 BMI, I'd be 6'4 140lbs. These numbers, you really can't apply them to other people.

I guess it could just be bloated-ness. I notice that sometimes my stomach has a bump on it, but later in the day it might be gone.

Yeah, I was put as obese like... 5 years ago. No damn way I was obese, just overweight. It's a bad system. They said it would get worse if I didn't do something about it. I just grew out of it though, since I wasn't obese. :P

BMI is useless, and calling people fat for having a BMI of 23 or 24 is quite stupid Majormayor. Using an online BMI calculator my BMI is 24.7 (.3 off of "overweight"), yet when I use hydrostatic weighing (waaay more accurate than BMI for determining health in terms of body fat) my bodyfat percentage is close to 6 (almost unhealthy for lack of fat).

The BMI was created to be a GENERAL mechanism for measuring body types a long time ago. People are a lot taller on average now then when it was first created. I would say the BMI works for a majority of people as a GENERAL way to judge fitness, but it should NEVER be used as a final measurement. The way it is used now with insurance and health is absurd.

last time i checked mine it was around 24, ive never liked using bmi as a measurment for a persons size, health, fitness level, or anything of significant importance when talking about that kind of stuff, if the nfl was to use a bmi calculation on all of its players probably like 90% of the nfl would be considered overweight or obese
