[QUOTE="markop2003"] Wouldn't that be an infinite loop? Therefore you still think you're a baby... and i must say you have great typing skills for such a young-unmarkop2003
It's not an infinite loop, people can dictate who you are but it is still up to oneself to whom you are. One can succumb to pressure and change after all but how they think of themselves is still up to the person. This is a given study in Psychology. Rene Descartes was right at some point but there are exceptions to everything and the human mind is but an indefinite thing. Also, what an offensive hasty generalization you just made there. Please be careful not to judge others easily especially from shallow grounds. :)
If:
What you think you are = what you are && What you are = what you think you are
Then logically you would be an infinite loop as each cycle would simply re-assert the same thing. The only way to change would be to change your self image and self at the exact same rate.
......
Also i wasn't judging, if your statement dictated an infinite loop then you would still be a baby... actually i think you'ld technically be a 20week old fetus but w/e... also you seemed to miss the implied :P
:)
Logically speaking what you say is true but this is the human being talked about and so many factors can change in between, like a change of mind and thus what was on the other end of the equation does not equal to that of the latter. :)
Also, I did misintepret what you typed there. Thanks for clarifying. :)
markop2003 I did some research into my ideas and found this. http://www-physics.lbl.gov/~stapp/PTRS.pdf
It is closely what I was trying to describe to you. There is another element to this equation that you are rediculously leaving out. I phrased it crudely before as some sort of soul-mind interactrion, not intending to contain all of the misinterpretation and populary-recognized ideas relating to the word'soul.' They describe it here as a mind-brain interaction. They also mention the words "feeling, effort, and knowing," which I tried to describe, quite extremely, using my stabbing analogy.
I stressed before that you were misinterpreting me, and I hope you did not think of me as one who didn't know exactly what they were talking about from a logical standpoint. LIke I said, it's not impossible that it can recreated, but the 'soul' for lack of a better term is a missing ingrediant. All of your described methods of 'engineering' were like I said before are immitations- this interaction is needed as it paramount to our existance.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Been reading about Emptiness have we (or just existentialism)? I'll give the typical Buddhist answer here, since I don't have one. There is no "me" as all conditioned things are fluid and impermanent. Only when one can abide in a state of pure non-abiding can they be at peace. Entering that state requires that one renounce the "self" that one has constructed, and become aware of the illusion of that "self" existing inherently is completely false. There is also the Jewish answer that I personally quite enjoy. Moses asked God: "What are you?" God responded: "Ehyeh asher ehyeh" or "I am what I am." So basically, don't bother trying to figure out, since you can never know.brandontwbYeah, it's just a language problem. I'm talking more about the soul and existance now :P. If you're not an atheist, I think your religion would be the best way to go. :)

Again, those are ideas related to that word, often misinterpreted into popularized concepts relating to magic, spirits ect, ect.
