Government/politics. Due to the scholarship I received, I'm pretty much guaranteed to work for the government right after I graduate from my masters degree.
I don't know yet. I'll most likely end up a teacher but what I'd want most is to be a Journalist or work in Hollywood as a big time Director.

Each one of those are different from the other, you have a wide range of... careers options, might I say.I don't know yet. I'll most likely end up a teacher but what I'd want most is to be a Journalist or work in Hollywood as a big time Director.

Working in IT as a Business Analyst. Guess I'll probably go into IT project management at some point.
I'm waiting to hear back from the U.S. Marshals service. Right now I'm a police officer, second grade in New York.
It's my goal to become a fiction writer, however.
Just starting college soon, no idea what I plan to do with my life. Thinking about going into the State Police, but there's plenty of time for me to make up my mind.
bad novelist. But I'd settle for wealthy philosopher.AllicrombieIsn't philosophy pointless nowadays?
[QUOTE="Allicrombie"]bad novelist. But I'd settle for wealthy philosopher.iskeethuntersIsn't philosophy pointless nowadays? Not exactly. As a simple example, one guy I know was offered a job as a crime scene investigator because of his reasoning skills as one who studied philosophy. This is not the traditional approach but it worked in this one example I mention.
[QUOTE="Allicrombie"]bad novelist. But I'd settle for wealthy philosopher.iskeethuntersIsn't philosophy pointless nowadays? Unless you plan on teaching it, there arent a lot of career opportunities for a philosopher. Philosophy itself is valuable to study though, as it teaches critical thinking skills and logic. Some of the highest scorers on the Bar Exam have been shown to be graduate students in philosophy.

Not to mention that studying philosophy demands a considerable amount of competence as far as reading comprehension is concerned.

That's true. I wouldn't mind pursuing a philosophy degree at some point. I believe people should study that on there own, as a degree it's a waste of time and money. It's a lovely thing, but it might as well be trash in your resume.[QUOTE="iskeethunters"][QUOTE="Allicrombie"]bad novelist. So you study it in order to become a teacher and teach it to someone else? That's not exactly useful. I understand philosophy was important in ancient times where they didn't have the knowledge we do today and they tried to understand the world surrounding them. Today we don't really need that.
I do find philosophy interesting though, but as a hobby, not a career.
I'm more science oriented. :DAwesome! What genre?

I've written the beginnings of some period pieces that have a dark, gritty, fantasy flair to them. I think the ideas are good, but I simply don't have enough time to do the research for them.

I spent 3 1/2 years in the Catholic seminary and decided last semester that wasn't my calling. I'm now, hopefully, pursuing a teaching degree. I'll get a degree in Philosophy in May and then I'd like to go back and get my education degree in history.
There are quite a few math and science types on OT.I honestly expected more engineers and techies on this forum.

I just want to write. Give me a subject and I'll write about it if the money's right. ^_^The-ApostleI'm pretty sure that's not the way to be a good writer.

Write about what you want.
