While he doesn't love it, he does like it. My dad was in a car accident a little while after I was born, and when he was recovering he would do nothing but play Legend of Zelda.
He has been dead for years,so sadly I will never know his opinion. From what I have been told of him though I do not think it would be his thing,I guess he was a always doing something gogetter type.mattykovax
Oh I'm really sorry to hear that I didn't... :|

My dad used to think it was pointless until one day we went to his friend's house and he showed my dad Shogun:Total War which he loved... to watch. We bought him a copy and he never played it. After that it went back to normal him ignoring the computer completely until one day he decided to watch my brother play Command and Conquer... (the timeline may seem screwed but we had an old pc). Dad decide he would try it out one weekend and completed both Nod and GDI campaigns :S which we still hadn't done. Then we got him games from the Great Naval Battles series and from the Steel Panthers series and also some American Civil War games such as Gettysburg and he played them for ages, causing myself and my brother to fight with him over the computer. IIRC he also completed Commandos in record time too (after watching me struggle with some of the later levels).
Anyway, nowadays I don't think he plays computer much any more, however when my bro came back from university dad used to sit and watch my brother play games like Heroes of Might and Magic 4 and 5 often. He's more of a backseat gamer but if he applied himself more to playing I think he would own most strategy games lol.
He doesn't care as long as my grades are good, and he is a beast at Mario Kart 64. That is pretty much the only game he will play though.
I suppose my answer is "doesnt care"
I used to play nes with him when I was little. I haven't seen him touch anything since then. Just as well, since he's old and doesn't understand any sort of technology.
I haven't lived with my parents for a few years now, but my dad would always come in and watch and say something like 'it almost looks real' and then walk out. He really liked watching me play Madden cause 'it looks so real'spazzx625Thats how the guy who is the closest to a father figure I had growing up was. He never tried playing, but he liked watching me play madden.
My dad bought me my atari, my nintendo's, my ps1, and ps2. He is a gamer himself. Casual -- prefers the old school stuff. He has his own Nintendo -- I should get him the Wii. SajedeneHA! Your post just reminded me... But we got my 5 year old nephew a Wii for Christmas and got both of my parents to try Wii Sports and my dad especially LOVED bowling
doesn't like it, thinks it's a useless hobby.Ace_WondersXMy parents think so as well. However, they think the same of all hobbies; anything that takes time away from work is something to be avoided in their eyes. I take my work seriously, and that's a very good thing, but I think they take it a bit too seriously. I need to do what I can to maintain my sanity :P
Sadly when it comes to gaming my dad has this sort of elitist attitude that if you haven't played games like Myst, or really old arcade games, or games made by the SCUMM engine, or any game made by Black Isle Studios in particular you can't call yourself a gamer. He pretty much has a "All flash no soul" view on modern games, except for a select few.
