I enjoy the piano (since I play it) and I have always liked the cello and violin.

There's nothing better than an 8 string guitar. So much range so much emotion.

[QUOTE="Zeviander"]In terms of overall complexity, depth of sound and sheer massive possibilities of composition, it would have to be the piano. I took lessons as a kid, and appreciate it more as an orchestra unto itself rather than an "instrument". But I tend to be more partial to simpler instruments for everyday listening, and very much enjoy heavily distorted electric guitars/basses, strong/fast drums and non-clean vocals (both on the low guttural and high screeching end, even better when mixed). Extreme metal and symphonic orchestral arrangements are my two favorite "genres" of music. And it wasn't until a couple months ago that I discovered there was actually attempts to combine the two (Fleshgod Apocalypse for instance). With varying degrees of success in regards to both sides. I learned long ago, and I am constantly reminded of it on a regular basis, that nobody will like the same things I will, so there is no reason to try to convince others that my tastes are "the best" or that what they listen to is "bad". Music is self-expression at the deepest level, and people find different ways of putting it out there. I should celebrate my tastes as unique because they make me who I am, and I should recommend genres, bands or artists to others who ask, to give them more options to discover. Edit: I have to throw the human voice in as well. Trying my hand (vocal cords?) at guttural octaves has really opened my eyes (ears?) to the versatility of what the human vocal system is capable of... and makes me sad when artists limit themselves to a single type (either clean, harsh, or percussive).

You think the Piano is more complex than the E. Guitar? I have to disagree... (i play both) My fav instruments are the Piano, Guitar, Bass and Drums

Badly played oboe is terrible, just like badly played violin. Well played oboe, though, is utterly sublime.

I'm curious - what makes you disagree? I very much agree with the first guy; a good piano offers an incredible range of sound to those who have spent the time to master it.

Keyboard, electric guitar, piano, or drums.
