Shadow of a Doubt-Sonic Youth

Creepy, sexy, and psychedelic. I love it.

majoras_wrath

Great song! This is another good choice...

Beauty Lies in the Eye

"There's something in the air here.... That makes you go insane"

Fantastic line indeed. :P

Was my second choice, but I just love Shadow of a Doubt so much.

Bull in the Heather is along the same lines. Not to mention they have the lead singer of Bikini Kill in the video ;)

"Bull.." literally makes me foam out of my mouth. Its one of my all time favorite Sonic Youth songs, Did you ever listen to the Beach Boys cover? Although its not 60's psychedlic rock but it still sounds great.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_y5XRkGU6A

Btw Im going to see them today, again for the 3'rd time this past year, I really hope they don't finish the show off with songs off Day Dream, they have been doing that lately.

That. was. awesome! I've never heard them take a cover seriously before. It sounds like Sonic Youth, but it respects the original song.

When I saw them, they closed with this if I'm not mixing up the orders (yes that's me screaming like an idiot), and it was amazing, as you can tell. It also counts as a psychedelic song ;)

Have fun! I'm beyond jealous, I'd give my only remaining hand to see them again.

God if they finish with Pacific Coast, I can die a happy man.

When i went the past two times, they finished with The Sprawl and Cross the Breeze (at different shows) I really wanna hear Kill time/Pipeline though, I would just go crazy in the crowd, I have my fingers crossed. :P

But im glad you liked the cover, they have a rare EP with nothing but covers on it (I have a copy of the EP as well) Try to get your hands on it, its a great find.

Hm, when I saw "psychedelic", I immediately assumed I should post something from the 60s. Shame on me for being so short-sighted :P

I'll add Starpower then. EVOL is so awesome.

Oh and I'll throw in Velvet Underground's Venus in Furs.

I'd never equate the Velvet Underground with psychedelia, but heh Venus in Furs is a great song, in fact that entire first album is a Masterpiece.

Yeah, I almost felt like I had stole your post, it's usually you who brings up the SY. I'm the Radiohead guy usually.

Speaking of Radiohead: I just realized how trippy some of their songs are. Everything in its Right place especially. They really are the Pink Floyd of our generation 8)

Would you count "Where is my Mind" by the Pixies as psychedelic?

It could be actually. Not in the musical sense but in a lyrical one.

Speaking on topic i would easilysay Pink Floyd's Jugband Blues. Syd Barret couldnt have wrote a better song

Win to whoever posted King Crimson. I always talk about them, and nobody knows who they are. Really confusing to me how Rush is such a household name (not saying they don't deserve it) but hardly anyone I know has even heard of KC.

Some of you guys are good, had nice songs, but still light weight stuff... Sure King Crimson is cool, but Im talking about self indulging craziness songs!

They are mostly instrumental or eletronica, but one that add up the singing (and lyrics) as another psychedelic instrument and used it very well:

This Fear of God

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Lds_GcdLnc

Now, thats psychedelic...And I bet you cant get a full hand of people around here who ever listened

So, you are welcome showing this rare music gem that I made possibily for you ever come across it

Speaking of Simple Minds, for all you 80's fans this next song is absolutely one of the finest songs created in the 80's or anytime (take it from one who lived the 80's), and since we are being very generous with our definitions of psychedelia, this one fits:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tShvXs6DsnU

Still an absolutely amazing and beautiful song, a must listen. Really takes you away.

Too bad they sold out after "Don't you forget about me" from The Breakfast Club.

Oh my God, I forget this rare gem also from the 80's:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr6LycuPWJY

Now thats some sweet psychedelia from Cocteau Twins, Elizabeth Frazer has the voice of an Angel, just Godly!

A perfect song as I see it.

Right now it's probably Suliman.

I don't really like Psychedelic Rock, but Psychedelic Trance is awesome. :D

Brain Damage and Strawberry Fields Forever. But the best Beatles song is still Hey Jude (imo). I was saddened when it wasn't in Rock Band, I mean the last 3 minutes you have to sing along with and turn up the volume. At least I do

I'd say almost every psychedelic song by Pink Floyd. If I had to pick only one of them, it would be:
