[QUOTE="Pirate700"]Speed on the court has little to do with speed on the field. He's too slow to be a WR even without pads on anyway. He's NBA fast. Not NFL fast.GrizzlyJuler
Look at Antonio Gates(don't know if you follow football) but he's regarded as one of the fastest tight ends when he got in the nfl. And yet he wasnt even the fastest guy on the court when he played basketball. So what about LeBron who's regarded as one of the fastest players on the court whenever he plays.

I do follow and I live in SD so I know Antonio Gates. :P

I know they can. I said he could be a great TE. He wouldn't cut it as a WR though. He's too slow even without pads and probably wouldn't withstand the hits.

Difference in opinion :P But I do think LeBron has enough speed to play wideout. I see him like Larry Fitzgerald at the very least when it comes to speed. People think he's slow but have seen the highlight of him outrunning the whole pittsburgh team on his superbowl touchdown a few years ago.... Though there is one thing LeBron most effective at no doubt. Like Larry, in the red zone when covered one on one He'll win the jump ball over 90% of the time. He has like 7-8 inches height advantage on cornerbacks, size and hops.....

Lebron is pretty much built for football. I think he could do well especially with his size advantages. But basketball is where he needs to stay.

I think Lebron is an attention whore and all this talk about joining the NFL is an attempt to keep himself relevant and in the spotlight during the NBA lock out. SaintLeonidas
I couldn't agree more. I don't think he'd last long anyway.

Lebron James would defiently be a contender in the NFL and whatever team he is on will probably see a huge boost in sales. I would love to see him play some football.

If Lebron could somehow contain his ego and allow himself to be treated like just another player, I think he could make it in the NFL. He wouldn't start though. He's 26, it would take him AT LEAST two years to be acclimated to an NFL game of football, putting him at 28. That means he'd only have a few years before he's out of his prime.

If Lebron had gone to college and then the NFL he probably could have been an exceptional TE. If he went now it would just be a joke and he'd get his ass flattened. This is just Lebron being an attention whore like usual.

I think he would have made a great TE if he had played in the pro's instread of the NBA. Now not so much. One hard hit from an NFL player and he'd be running back to the NBA. :P

Pirate700

Agreed to all ^^

He's too slow and large to play WR in the NFL. Also, just being athletic doesn't mean you can play in the NFL. There are plenty of talented players that never made or make it successfully in the NFL. He needs to focus on making at least a cameo appearance in the 4th quarter before even pondering the NFL.

He isn't so there is no question anyways. However, I would die of laughter if he joined the Browns.

About the same effect as Jordan in the MLB. Lot's of hype with little actual performance.

Should help attendance though. Hell I'd pay to see Ray Lewis flatten his conceited ass.

Just because you're not an elite athlete doesn't mean you have to hate for no reason. Spellingiscool

[QUOTE="tocool340"]Oh god no. He'd b**** and complain about players hitting him and no foul being called, fail to show up in the 4th quarter, and demand that he becomes the teams captain...Jagged3dge

I seem to remember him not coming through in the 4th quarter of the NBA Finals; no clue where you picked those other two points from. Blind hatred?

I was being sarcastic. Sheesh...

He'd fail at football like Jordan failed at baseball or Brock Lesnar failed at football.

I do not see James having a successful career but it will be interesting to see how he will play if he is serious about it.

[QUOTE="GrizzlyJuler"]First off, I don't think there'd be any real seriousness related to this topic but for argument sake.... LeBron would make a great nfl prospect as a tight end or receiver. All i have to say is Antonio Gates. He had no football experience I believe coming out of college as a basketball player and he pretty much tore up the league as soon as he got in the nfl and there's no reason why LeBron can't do the same. He has more size and more athletic ability than gates as a basketball player so it should translate football wise right? LeBron would be a scary match up for anyone covering him, its not even fair.... the man can jump crazy and at 6'8 250 pounds at that..... Pirate700

Speed on the court has little to do with speed on the field. He's too slow to be a WR even without pads on anyway. He's NBA fast. Not NFL fast.

He doesn't have to be amazingly fast when he can likely out-jump, out-reach, and overpower a lot of NFL defenders(especially corners, but some safeties might be right up there). All the QB would have to do is toss the ball up above him and he could jump up in the air and grab it, I don't see a lot of defenders in the NFL contesting him in that area. I don't see why you think speed is the only thing that matters in the NFL... :| Sure, it's great to have a fast player that can break past coverage and make huge plays, but speed is worthless if that player can't catch the ball in the first place. I'd take a player that can consistently get up off the ground, bail the QB out on overthrown passes, and make ridiculous jumping catches to get my team good yardage on a consistent basis(although rarely ever outrunning the defense for a massive play) than a player that uses his speed and makes huge plays whenever he DOES break coverage, but has issues with getting the ball in his hands to begin with so isn't much of a factor in most games.
