[QUOTE="btaylor2404"] I don't force anything on them, and teach them to think for themselves, and question most everything. But at 3 years old I'm also not gonna tell my kids Santa's not real. When they are mature enough I'll explain my views to them. Until then I'll respect my wife's wishes. If you don't have kids, you really can't comment nor judge another persons choice as to how they raise theirs. And it's insulting to say "poor kid", unless you live in mine or any other parents house, you have no idea how their kids are being raised.dracula_16
Sorry if this seems nosy, but won't there be a problem when they get older? by that time they'll already be indoctrinated. Doesn't that contradict your wish to have them think for themselves?
Not at all, we don't have Bible study, or pray at the table before each meal. My wife's more a "casual" Christian, if that makes sense. And if they are anything like me they'll question everything around 13 or so anyways.[QUOTE="btaylor2404"][QUOTE="Diablo112688"]I don't force anything on them, and teach them to think for themselves, and question most everything. I am simply saying that the idea of a child being told these things at all is not ok with me. I don't know exactly how you raise your kids, but that idea alone even something as simple as the santa thing is terrible in my eyes. You continue to do whatever you want... I will see my ideas through sooner than later.Poor kid. I really do mean that. I honestly believe these things hold us back as a humanity. They are propostrous to me... a child's mind is so easily changed... you could tell him you are superman and he would believe you. You should teach him to quesiton everything and support him. I would say to any parent... how dare you force a child to hold on to these things.

And that's your choice and ok, but to say poor kid, you don't know enough about the situation to comment like that? I don't tell them any of it, because I don't believe it. Their mom reads the Jesus stories. And when you do have kids you don't want them to be hurt, kids are cruel you know, having them talking about there not being a Santa in school will be a problem, and one of the great parts of being a parent is seeing the "magic" again. Santa's that, Disney's that. I'm not going to deprive my children of that, for God's sake their kids, they can gradually learn all the harshness and sometimes horrific realities of the world soon enough, and become jaded like many of us.
I am spiritual. I don't identify myself with any one religion, thus I don't usually do so. If I do, I usually add the caveat "among other things." I just don't see why God would give us the choice of a thousand different religions and force us to hunt for the right one and risk eternal punishment for choosing one of the 999 others.

couldn´t agree more with you, if I´d ever haver a child I´d do exatcly the same thing and then when they turn ten i´ll burst the bubble
about my beleifs, well I´m a scientologist
just kidding, but well I´m not sure if I should believe or not, the only thing I´m sure about is that most if not all religions are wrong (sometimes I feel like they are wrong on purpose just so more people follow them, like when they say god is always seeing what they do and always by their side and saying that if you don´t do somethings you´ll go to hell and stay there for eternity, I believe they say that so people care about religion)
if I believe in anything is that there is a "god" who is not omnipotent or cares little about humans
[QUOTE="Cube_of_MooN"]Agnostic I suppose. As hard as I try to be Christian, I can't bring myself to do it.mindstormIf you don't mind me asking, what's holding you back? The idea of God existing. I have always had a very scientific mind, and I have a hard time accepting something like a supernatural being existing without any real evidence pointing to the fact. On a similar line of thought, I have a hard time dismissing the idea of God entirely, so I remain split on the matter, hence why I claim to be agnostic.
If lack of religion is a religion, (atheism) then not smoking is a habit, and not collecting coins is a hobby. See how much sense that makes? Besides, all members of any religion are athiests as well. As Richard Dawkins explained, Christians for example are Zeus Athiests, Allah Atheists, Shiva Atheists, Lord Krishna Atheists, and etc. We just take it one god further. Besides, as the brilliant man I named my account after over on youtube said, better to be defined by what you do believe in, than what you do not. Therefore, I prefer not to carry the Athiest label on me at all times, just as I'm sure Christians around me down here would prefer not to have everyone calling them Thor Atheists, or Celestial Teapot Atheists. Over on youtube, the real Thunderf00t came up with Pearlist. With PEARL standing for Physical Evidence And Reasoned Logic. I quite like that.

Fair enough. If you tried to find "proof" for God (or against for that matter) then you'll come up short. However, I do believe there is a lot of evidence pointing towards his existence. Sure one could try to reason himself out of believing in God but one can reason himself out of believing anything. One thus has to take some type of leap of faith regardless of the belief (even something as simple as trusting your senses).
I myself am actually a rather skeptical person and do not like coming to a conclusion without strong and solid arguments. With that said, I do see some apparently strong arguments on the side of the atheist. However, in every event in life, every logical argument, and every object in nature, I see hints towards the existence of God. If I took one "hint" alone, I probably would just think of it as a fluke or a chance happening. I just believe there are too many hints in everyday life pointing towards God's existence to doubt him. In other words, every minute detail in creation eventually points towards God.
(And btw, I'm not trying to turn this topic into a debate. I'm merely giving my reasons for believing.)

Muslim. The only thing I really do is not eat pork.
lol, and the only thing I do is pray... sometimes, when I go to bed. Why can't muslims eat pork?We just find it as coming from a filthy, unholy animal (although we must treat it with respect, along with all other animals and living things coming from God) and not one for consumption, for that would make our bodies unholy to our God.
So you guys can't eat bacon...? :o There's something similar to that in Christianity. It's a day called Tent, where we can't eat any meat. I have no idea why.Wouldn't an agnostic atheist simply be an atheist?Agnostic. But I guess I would also classify as Agnostic Atheist. So I voted Atheist.

I don't follow any religion. Just saved by Jesus and follow the Bible. =)Devourment423That, my friend, is Christianity.
