What killed R&B?

What do you all think killed R&B?

I personally think rap being mixed with it throughout the 90s, sampling and the lyrical content.

What do you all think?

at some point i listen to it... and then relize it was another band/artist.

R&B turned into the "romance novel" of music; trash targeted at women.

It was never that good to begin with, hence it didn't have staying power.

Nah it was good back in the day.

I still like it. Some of it isn't the best, sure. But it is what it is.
