nah. I'm more of a guitarists than a bassist. I've picked up guitar over 6 months ago and i've gotten to the point where I feel I'm really good. I would love to learn bass but I'm starting to prefer guitar.
In my opinion, a Whammy bar is a waste.... but that's just my opinion....
Anyhoo, since you want one, you can always find Les Pauls, SGs, and Telecasters with a Bigsby, and Stratocasters should come with a whammy bar, but its really up to you. Unless you know EVERYTHING about the sound that comes out of a guitar, and if you're going to water it down with a bunch of effects, you should get the one that you think looks the nicest, and plays the best.

I want a whammy bar with it because I like how it makes interesting sounds out f a guitar. It helps me to be creative. But I don't want it to be the main part of the guitar. I want a really good electric guitar.
[QUOTE="shoot-first"]Get one like mine or similar. It's an American Strat.

Whoa. That's nice. 8)
Why, thank you. 8)
Its really up to you. The three best guitar brands are Gibson, Epiphone and Fender. I perfer Gibson for its wholesome tone. Fender has more of a screechy ring to it while epiphone is between the two. I may like bass more then guitar and play alot more bass then guitar, but I know alot more about guitar then most people.

If you want a guitar with a whammy bar, you have two options, a Fender Strat or something Ibanez, Jackson or Charvel will fit within a budget of less then 600 dollars. However there are two types of whammy bars, the Bigsby and Fender Strat style which is more a vibrato bar then an actual whammy, or the Floyd Rose style which is capable of being able to do really heavy bends up and down (basically you can pitch a note down a few octaves or up a few whole tones). My advice is if you are on a serious budget, go for an Ibanez RG350DX, they are great guitars with a very versatile sound, or you can go for something like a Jackson Dinky which costs a fair bit more depending on the model.
What kind of music do you play is an important factor in deciding what kind of axe you want.

That is subject to opinion. Fender is one of my favourite brands, but I think Gibson's are highly over priced for what they are worth, you can get a Tokai Les Paul for half the price of a Gibson LP Standard and it will sound just as good. Also considering that Gibson/Epiphone guitars all lack a whammy bar system makes suggesting them to the TC rather silly dont you think?
There are so many other good guitar brands out there that are far more innovative then Gibson is when it comes to making guitars that sound unique or play well. Metal heads usually go for Ibanez and Jackson guitars, blues and classic rock guitarists will play either Fender or Gibson, however if you are into most of those styles as well as jazz, Ibanez is really the most versatile brand maker. Although I personally love Godin guitars, they have such a unique tone and they make some wicked axes, I plan on investing in a Godin A6 Ultra which is a hybrid acoustic and electric guitar with dual outputs, one for acoustic and the other for the single humbucker in the neck position, very versatile axe.
depends on how much money you got
the people here dont relize cause theve just been playing guitar hero but gibsons cost like $2,000
you can pick up cheap guitars at any music store with a wammy. they look like fender strats but there not exactly them lol. but there great to start off with.

And usually those cheap guitars have crappy whammy systems. I have a Squier Strat and the whammy bar snapped off on me, resulting in having to get the bar pulled out or have the bridge replaced. I went with the latter, although the thing doesnt hold in tune very well, especially with all the heavy bending I do. And you can get a Gibson Les Paul or SG for 1000 bucks or less if you buy one of the cheaper models, but they are still expensive and there are cheaper alternatives that are still good.

ya true but i dont think if hes just startin off that hes gonna be pullin exteam wammy bar moves off lol. i think one of those cheap guitars is perfect so that its not a waist if he doesnt pick up on learning to play. right now i have an ibanez but ironicly i play mostly blues/rock so it kinda looks funny with my crazy shapped metal guitar and me playin some stevie ray vaughn lol. i really want a les paul but its very out of my price range at the moment. can you name one of those moddles that looks like it for me. thanks man.

I've never seen a Gibson Les Paul for $1000 or less, but I know that a Gibson SG is a like $500-$600 I think.First guitar get a starter kit from fender or Ibanez or Squire (Squire is Fender). If you're really serious get a schecter. They're guitars with quality on par with fender for $200-300 less. Also dean makes a guitar that's all wooden and has incredible sound for the price, which is $120. I think it's called the Vendetta or something
My first guitar was a used Peavey Raptor now I use an Ibanez Ah series. The Peavey is good for the $150 it cost the Ibanez is obviously better. I plan on selling the Peavey for an Epiphone Les Paul though.
Go here and surf look for a good name brand metioned here for somewhere betwen $120-250 for a good beginner. $150-300 for a starter combo with amp and everything
If you are really interested in making some creative noises, don't waste it on a whammy bar. Get a nice pedal that let's you customize your own effects, some offer a wide variety of effects that include a whammy bar - although the ones with a huge selection usually sound a bit cheap and cheesy.
I think you'd be satisfied with a nice wah pedal over a whammy bar, anyways.

If you buy a strat over 1K, it's going to come with a whammy standard, but foot pedals are probably more fun, but whammy+foot pedal = !
