Galaxy note 4
@uninspiredcup: you schould stop pulling out the battery then!
Cheap one from black Friday sale. Don't know much about phablets (it was my first one) but from what I read they are pretty notorious for battery life, espcailly the cheap ones.
The thing is too big as well: 9 inches, doesn't even fit in your pockets. Good for if your stuck in an emergency, but thats kind of the extent of it. Even for very basic things like browsing the internet, the thing has a heart attack.
@korvus: Sorry no such thing as free, you guys are making monthly payments on those phones and the mobile plans.
My Galaxy S4 is free.
Yep, our iPhones as well. Both my wife and I have our own companies and it's an incentive offered to companies (it's easy enough to see if it's free or not...just compare the rates with with non-company plans that don't offer the phones...)
Well, I mean, it's not exactly free, there's just no monetary cost. They give me an iPhone every year in exchange for a year contract. If I cancel my contract with them at any time during that year I'm forced to return the phone but the company is good and their plans are cheap so I don't have a problem with that.
@johnd13: Sure, move over here and start a company XD
So, they aren't free.. you are tied to a two years contract to use their phones, the phones are not yours... I been to that too, and I ain't going back.
@Dogswithguns: 1 year contract and the phone is mine at the end of the year even if I decide to change providers afterwards...with that we have outfitted almost our entire families with iPhones. They offer the cheapest rates on the services we do use so we're all good anyway. Yeah, if we decide to cancel halfway through the year we need to return the latest iPhone model and go back to the previous year's model...but if we chose a provider that didn't offer us the phone we wouldn't have it either so I don't see a disadvantage.
Just a regular red cellphone, nothing very interesting. :P I'm not really into having all these iPhone and iPad gadgets. Might cave one of these days though and wind up getting an iPhone and/or Android though, but definitely only one of each. And I doubt I'm gonna be using them very much...
Samsung Galaxy Grand.
Pros: Big screen
Cons: Battery life is shorter than a bee's dick
Prone to slowing down/freezing occasionally
Think I'm gonna upgrade to an S5, a faster phone for people to not call/text me on.
Huawei Ascend P1... Had it since March 2013, and it hasn't got a single scratch on the screen, and I drop it quite a lot. Honestly I'm amazed at how durable the thing is. At this rate it looks like I'm gonna have this phone for another year at least, so none of the phones on the market really interest me right now.
Still rocking my Samsung Galaxy S3.
Using "Carbon Mod".... No noticeable performance issues even in 2015, I don't have a reason to spend $600+ on a new device.
My HTC Inspire just died so I got myself a Samsung Galaxy Avant for $100 (after rebate), it's decent, does talk, text, I can browse internet on the go, meets my needs. I don't want those pricier $600 smartphones like a Galaxy S5 or Note 4, if I had that much money to splurge I'd rather get a Galaxy S Tab tablet.
For gaming needs I got a 3DS XL I always carry with me, or when I don't feel like looking like such a manchild in public I'll also carry with me my book of sudoku puzzles.
The best phone of 2014 and still is today. Gorgeous ips display, aluminium, and farting unicorns.
Sorry best phone 2014 was Note 4 or Nexus, G3 is maybe bottom of top tier of last year
Note 4. It's a beast. Got it the day I came out. Since it's not that often I get a new phone, I wanted the best I could get at the time. I initially picked the G3 but I didn't like its screen (LED and over-sharpening filter = gross) and had some really weird music playback issues, so I switched it out. Was lucky the Note 4 came out at the exact same time I returned my G3. Was a little risk with the Nexus coming out, but it seemed to pay off going for the Note 4 because the reviews seem to slightly favor it. It's so good I don't even need to root it.
Big screens are great for porn, too.
I Note to.
Yeah the Note 4 really is the best phone out right now, I love it.
That new Galaxy S6 Edge does look pretty sweet although it does seem like a gimmick. I also couldn't imagine going back to a smaller screen then the Note 4.
I love my Note 4 as well. The S6 looks nice, but not being able to add memory through an sd card or swap out a battery is a turn off. I hope this isn't something they plan on doing to all their products in the future.
i wouldnt be surprised if they do with the new features of these phones now. fast charge + ultra power saving means no need for extra battery. cloud storage of contacts, music, video and photos there is almost no need for sd storage.

What? I didn't mention g3.

I'm not aware of any other well renowned phones to come out 2014 besides what we just talked about.

iPhone 6 obviously
Been using a Galaxy S3 for 2 1/2 years. It's running CyanogenMod 12 and has an enormous ZeroLemon extended battery. Performance is pretty good for its age because it was one of the first phones to have 2GB of RAM. I've been waiting for a new phone to come along and impress me enough to upgrade for a while now.
Galaxy Note 3 after being a longtime iPhoner, it's easily my favorite phone. Will upgrade to a newer note eventually but it still does everything I want very well so no use upgrading yet. I use the stylus features extensively for work, and the screen is big enough to be a very usable ereader.
I have an Amazon Fire Phone.
It cost me $1 and since I already had Amazon Prime I received a second year of Prime for free.
Best phone I've ever had
@ferrari2001:
It's awesome for the price but I don't use it much outside being a phone and camera.
To sum it up
Really? my battery can last almost 60 hours. But I don't have a lot of apps that run in the background
@Nuck81:
That must be 60hrs on standby because no name brand smart phone can last over 8-10hrs of usage.
If you are constantly looking at the Internet, or Facebook, or whatnottery, than maybe. But mine just lasted the from Saturday Morning to Sunday Night with 50% left after visiting the In-laws and forgetting my charger. And we streamed music on it the two hour drive back to my house Sunday Afternoon for Prime Music.
I've never had a phone that didn't last at least 24 hours

It's not quite that simple as saying, "This phone is the best." It depends on priorities, preferences, and whatnot.
But I'm more interested in your list. Why the Note 4 and the Nexus? They're pretty different beasts. Generally those who like one do not like the other in my experience.

That's insane. If anyone else can confirm this then please go right ahead, please. I had the iPhone 5, galaxy note and s5 but all don't last beyond 10 hours of usage. Standby/audio they last for days but it is a different story when being used to surf.

I don't disagree. I am not constantly on my phone. If it makes a noise I look at it, but other than texting my family or talking to my wife, I don't use it as my primary web surfing device.
My fire phone regularly has 50% battery by the time I go to bed at the end of a weekday with periodic use on lunch hour and breaks.
