What makes a person buy apple products?

I have been reading some articles and just looking around and quite honestly, I'm dumbfounded. I don't understand how apple has done it. They have turned the majority of America and the world for that matter into economical retards.

For example one article on engadget brought this to my attention:

$400 for 8GB DDR3 1300 ram... WTF?! You can go to new egg and get faster ram (1600) for around $100... how are people buying this?

I wish I could go to the store, buy some water for $1 then walk outside and sell it for $5... I guess Steve Jobs really is magic.

They charge the same when you buy their computers... it's a $200 upgrade from 4gb to 8gb (more than the 8gb should cost all-together much less as an upgrade). This means that every computer they sell is making ~$200-400 off the RAM alone...

Relevant:

I have no idea how they've done it. Their marketing team is the most brilliant department of any company in recent history. They actually made people WANT overpriced goods.

only apple product i ever bought was the OG iphone.

i actually hate apple and everything they stand for. But at the time... no smart phone was in their league, and my contract was up.

I have a macbook pro which i bough this year and i loved it. Sure it was more expensive than any other laptop with the same spects but the OS is worth it!Solid_Tango

I will give it to the iPhone and the iPad (although I still find them over-priced) for being great products. I'm still not sure how they pulled off the iMac and macbook.

I use an iphone and its great. But I got it for free second hand so obviously I think it was worth the price I paid :P

Despite the fact I'm typing this on an iPod touch I still agree with you. Pretty much every PC gamer agrees with you. Apple would tell you its about the software though as opposed to the hardware. Serraph105
