[QUOTE="Daavpuke"]I'm obsessed about video games, spend most my life inside behind a computer or tv, draw and photoshop, know way too much about pointless matters and can memorize just about any episode of Simpsons/Family Guy/American Dad. None of these things are actually useful :P.astrozombie37Hey you are like me. :D I know random pointless info for no reason at all and I draw and know about every episode of most shows I watch. :P Do you also quote them several times a day? Mostly very inappropriately?
This could take a while...
-I'm a math and physics major with a computer science and music minor.
-I routinely celebrate Pi Day.
-I have a rather large video game collection if I do say so myself.
-I have all of the super expanded editions of the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars movies.
-I had a 4.6 GPA in high school.
-Followed by a nervous breakdown in college, leading me to be a shut in.
-I can recite the Periodic Table of Elements by memory.
-I collect comics.
-I tend to end conversations by quoting or saying something that no one else understands.
-I'm a paid tutor.
-I have yet to meet a computer I couldn't fix (which is actually annoying. I HATE how people always come to me to help them with the stupidest things. Have they not heard of Google?)
etc.
Despite this, I'm not really a stereotypical nerd. I have some great friends and am actually not completely unpopular.

A geek is someone who is intelligent but focuses more on the things that most people take no interest in, Star Trek, video games with complicated plots, many hardcore gamers are geeks in my definition. Some have social lives while others don't but most geeks have skills that don't benifit society.
Nerds are people who are very intelligent but take little interest in things that don't ultimately matter to society, they don't play many video games and they enjoy very intellectual movies, they read a lot and have skills that will benifit society and will get them far in life, for example, you are a nerd if you enjoy robotics and don't take interest in video games. A nerd is also very focused on grades in school but is very confident that they will get grades higher than everyone else, nerds have social lives but are almost always friends with tightly nit groups of other nerds.
By those definitions I'm both. I like to think my social life is OK(not great because I stopped drinking). I have a gf and a select group I like to party with. I say my gaming and vast knowledge of everything pokemon(that my lady has no idea I'm into) makes my a geek, but my philosophical reading, natural talents with mathematics, and abilities in computer science makes me a nerd. However, I say I'm normal; everyone could fit into some stereotype, but unless you're just super obsessed or live in the darkness of your mom's basement, I classify you as normal. Please Log In to post.
